SORRY THIS WAS LATE BUT THIS WAS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE CHAPTER TO WRITE!!!

----------------------------------------

Brian and I stood side by side, waiting in anticipation, on the unfinished road that would soon connect Phoenix Drop to Meteli.

Suddenly, I saw the figures of two people approaching, a man and a woman, to which I immediately recognized them.

"Lady Aphmau! Laurance!" I called out.

Brian, son of Dale, a former guard, and I had been waiting for Aphmau and Laurance's return from Meteli. I've never really talked to Brian much, so during the time that we'd spent waiting for Aphmau and Laurance, we pretty much had just stood in an awkward silence. He didn't really seem to be all that interested with talking to me either. And not to be rude, but I was getting this weird, ominous feeling from standing next to Brian. And his dog, Grey Wind, who was with us as well, didn't seem to like me all that very much.

Just ignore it Am, it's probably nothing.

"Amethyst! Brian! Were you guys waiting for us? You didn't have to do that!" Aphmau smiled.

I returned her smile, "Nonsense, my lord, it was really no trouble at all, besides, we have exciting news-"

"Some wonderful news," Brian interrupted me, though I guess I can't blame him, he had every right to be excited, "Lucinda finished her potion for Alexis! She's about to use it right now, quickly head to Lucinda's home!"

Aphmau hardly waited for Brian to finish and rushed off to Lucinda's house excitedly. Laurance, Brian, Grey Wind, and I followed suit.

Lucinda's House...

I stared at the poor, cursed child, called Alexis, as we all waited for Aphmau.

Surprisingly, despite the fact that she had taken off before the rest of us, she was still the last one to show up.

So in the meantime, I observed the young girl who'd I been told was put in this state by Zane.

Zane...

That ***hole...

Only he would do something like this to an innocent little girl...

My eyes shifted to Dale and Molly, Alexis's parents.

Dale, despite the fact that he was no longer an official guard, he often did work around the guard tower, and we've chatted on several occasions. He's a good man, I can tell.

Molly, on the other hand, I have not spoken to, but from what I've heard from Dale, she's an absolute gem.

My focus returned to Alexis.

I so desperately want this to work, for both her's and her family's sake...

Sounds of panting suddenly filled the room, indicating that Aphmau had arrived.

She spoke with Garroth, Molly and Dale, and Lucinda for a brief moment, and then Lucinda began to cast her spell.

And she was successful! Alexis opened her eyes and sat up for the first time in weeks. It was truly a sight to see.

We were all overjoyed! Molly began to cry and even Dale looked like he was about to break down as they celebrated the return of their daughter.

That Evening...

That night, a small celebration was held for Alexis, not a full-fledged festival, but it was still quite enjoyable.

As adorable as it was to watch all the children play together, my thoughts drifted to Laurance, who'd been awfully quiet since his and Aphmau's return.
