Flashback...
All of a sudden, Zane's appearance had changed.
His pale skin became peach, his icy blue eyes becoming a vibrant emerald.
The man who I had once seen as Zane soon took the form of someone I knew all too well.
It was him...
"NO! NO, STOP!" I screamed.
He took a step closer to me.
"Amethyst..." He hissed.
"ZANE! ZANE PLEASE, STOP!" I pleaded.
"This is someone whom you once cared for... Isn't it?"
"JUST GET AWAY FROM ME!" I backed into the wall of my cell.
"Maybe someone you loved..."
"STOP!"
"Ah... So you did love him... Now that must be quite the tale to tell..."
"YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ZANE! PLEASE, I'M BEGGING YOU!"
He gave me puppy dog eyes, "Why did you stop loving me Amethyst? What changed?"
For a moment there, I'd forgotten that it was Zane who stood before me, not Jaxon.
His eyes...
His hair...
His smile...
...
THAT. DAMN. SMILE.
I balled my fists within my cuffs.
"You LIED to me! You told me that you loved me, and I BELIEVED you, then I find out that you were working for my brother the whole time! HOW COULD YOU EXPECT ME TO COME RUNNING BACK TO YOU AFTER THE WAY YOU HURT ME?!?"
Then I stared into his eyes.
I stared long and hard.
And I realized that I had just spilled my guts to one of my worse enemies.
