Death with his bitter sweet sting
He might to me one day peace bring
Then he'll help me, only then
He'll help me leave this lions den
I cry, oh hear my plea
One day to be close to thee
Oh I wish upon a star
Come one day from afar
Death and his sweet reprive
I'll now with him arrive
For that sweet day I dare not strive
Then I will be much more than alive
When I hear him sing
Oh he a sweet melody brings
He'll bear me up on silver wings
Sterling the song he proudly sings
His stinger sharp as a bee
Is also coated in honey
Oh death with the sweeter sting
Bring me home to where you, me, can bring
My piece of pie
Strait from heavens wandering eye
Oh, in your own bailiwick
Can in dead bring a tender smack
I pray through the poison of my life
One day relieve me of my strife
Oh death you come all too soon
To take them from me like a coon
I can cry from day to day
Carry me with care, I pray
Relive me of this world's way
One day take me far away
Take me then far that day
Oh, I challenge not the greater way
But go through the night to day
I hope I pray that one sting
Will tears and songs of joy it bring
I want it not here nor now
I must not know how
I must some way prepare for him
For the lights of life one day will dim
Tender, soft his sweet embrace
I see it now his skull caped face
His song will carry me aloft
In it cradled warm and soft
It's tearing jarring notes
Give me a protective coat
I'll be bundled safe and close
My medicine, I'll receive a dose
He'll carry me straight and true
This, I'm sure, he'll really do
