Rose's POV

I sighed, it was always with The Doctor, things like this always happened, even when he promised me a nice birthday dinner at a nice restaurant.

Somehow we ended up in someone's cellar.

I really shouldn't be surprised or angry, I travel with The Doctor, what should I expect?

I was angry though.

**Flashback**

For my birthday The Doctor took me out for dinner. The place was really expensive and honestly, I was surprised he could afford it.

Then again, you probably get free dinner when everyone thinks you're the king of Clom.

Dinner was going smoothly, we are and chatted a bit. Everything as fine, until a man came up to our table and started flirting with me.

"Must be nice for you're father to be the king of Clom." He said cheerfully. I nearly rolled my eyes, The Doctor obviously wasn't my dad.

"He's not my dad." Rose replied

The man raised his eyebrows "You're brother then?"

Rose's grin widened slightly "No, he's just a mate."

The Doctor's glare didn't go unnoticed by the other two "Her best mate."

The man gave him a sideways glance "Right. What d'you say we go get a drink when you're done eating?"

Rose glanced at The Doctor nervously "I really shouldn't."

"Oh c'mon, he's not you're boyfriend is he?"

Rose reddened "Well, no."

The man gave her a crooked grin "Then what's stopping you?"

Rose took a breath, about to explain to the man that she already had plans when The Doctor stood up

"Look, she said no, she already has plans and you're not about to ruin them, she hardly even knows you!"

The Doctor said this all in his scary voice, a voice normally reserved for Daleks or others of the like

The man, decided to fight back "I don't think I would ruin her night, in fact I would make it ten times better." He threw a wink at Rose, and she blushed

The Doctor advanced on the man "You. Will. Never. Lay. A. Finger. On. Rose. Tyler." He growled emphasized each word with a hard jab in the chest

The man began to get angry "And how is that determined by you?"

The Doctor looked him in the eyes "Because, I told her mother I would protect her from the monsters."

This got the man going even more "Oh! Just because you are too afraid to tell her what you feel doesn't mean that you can ruin her chances with anyone else! She probably doesn't even like you!"

The last sentence sent The Doctor over the edge, he took two strides towards the man and punched him squarely in the jaw.

Unfortunately he had bodyguards, obviously he was some big shot.

The bodyguards grabbed The Doctor and Rose at the man's command and dragged them out of the restaurant.

**End Of Flashback**

So, yes, they were stuck in some cellar in a basement and Rose was a bit annoyed with The Doctor.

"You okay?"

Rose had to restrain herself from rolling her eyes and shouting at him, "Fine." She replied her voice sounding strained

The Doctor raised his eyebrows, clearly not convinced

Rose sighed, "No, I'm not fine."

"What's wrong then?"

Honestly, Rose was a bit embarrassed to admit it, things like this happened all the time, why she was upset about it this time remained a mystery to her.

"I dunno, this I guess."

"Rose, this always happens, why're you upset this time." The Doctor rested his elbows on his knees, preparing himself for a story.

"I don't know Doctor!" Rose raised her voice a little this time

The Doctor was completely unsure of what to do, "Was it because of what I did?" He asked weakly

"Yes. No. Maybe."

He looked hurt, "I'm sorry Rose, I really am, I'm a bit overprotective sometimes."

Rose smiled a bit "You're kidding, I don't think any man has gotten within ten feet of me since you regenerated."

The Doctor grinned "Yeah, I do my best."

Rose shook her head at him, clearly he had been. "Why?"

The Doctor blinked "Sorry?"

"Why're you so protective?"

The Doctor gave her a silly smile "Well, I think you're mum might kill me if I let you get hurt."

Rose looked at him as if to say really.

The Doctor shifted around uncomfortably and cleared his throat "I'm being serious."

Rose rolled her eyes "Doctor, you are a terrible liar."

He ran his hand through his hair, as he always did when he was feeling uncomfortable "Uh."

Rose crossed her arms "Doctor, I don't know how long we're going to be in here but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have time to wait."

"Uh, well you see-"

"Doctor, the short and non-evasive answer please."

"Rose, I really like you."

Rose felt her heart warm. "Yeah, I know Doctor, you're my best mate, if you didn't really like me it wouldn't really work so well."

"No, I mean-" The Doctor sighed and put his head in his hands for a minute, when he brought his head back up he looked confident "Rose Tyler, I love you."

"WHAT!!" Rose cried, then felt her face start to heat up, "Sorry, I didn't mean to yell."

"No, I get it," The Doctor looked sad, "when we get out of this I'll take you home."

Rose felt her stomach drop, "What?" She asked hoarsely

The Doctor met her eyes for a minute and then dropped his gaze, "You want to go home don't you?"

Rose was surprised "No. Why would I?"

"Because, you don't feel the same."

Rose couldn't help it, she burst out laughing. She looked up at The Doctor's expression and started laughing even harder.

"What?" The Doctor asked indignantly

"Doctor you are an idiot."

The Doctor looked very confused. Soon he raised his eyebrow and started to smile "Wait, you-" he pointed at her

Rose nodded and started laughing again, this time, he joined her.

Finally, when they calmed down The Doctor spoke up "So, you don't want to go home?"

Rose smiled "Of course not."

"Alright then, let's get out of here. I want to get back to the TARDIS as fast as possible." He winked at her and she blushed.
