»Where were you,
When everything was falling apart ?  «

song : you found me - the fray

1 . 3 9 A M

Let's end it where it began.

Was what Calum had said as he pulled into the parking lot.

With his suit still on, he hurried around the car and opened the door for her, only to slam it close even harder just behind her, his teeth gnashing against each other. Stomping, he walked towards the entrance of the waffle house, his hands deep in his pockets with his jaw still clenched aggressively.

There was a slight scent of waffles
laying in the air, even at this time.

Now full menu available 24 hours! read the sign in the entrance.

He walked ahead of her to the seat they once sat in as he undid the tie with his hands and opened the first two buttons of his shirt, as he sat down on his previous spot. He swallowed as he looked at the restrooms sign and then looked next to him on the floor, his hands clasping in front of him, resting on the table.

She sat ahead of him, looking at Calum instead of avoiding the view of him like he did with her. A tiny smile hushed over her face, but eventhough Calum looking to the floor he had taken notice by it. His eyes flew over to her.

"What?", he grumbled, the atmosphere still tensed and awkward as he brushed his hand through his hair and his cheeks were slightly blushed.

"Nothing.", she said, but he just raised his eyebrows.

"I was just thinking how you used to straighten your hair for special occasions. And now you leave it curly for your own prom.", she said, lowering her head at him as she spoke out the word prom.

"How do you know it was my prom?", he snapped, a bit too sharp he figured.

"Well, I doubt you have any other occasions to wear that suit to.", she said pointing towards it and leaning back.

He looked down on himself, and realized.

"I told you to leave it curly", she said smiling a bit as she lifted the menu card in front of her face. "Remember?"

He laughed, sarcastically. "Everybody tells me to leave it curly."

She raised her eyebrow again and gazed over the edge of the menu.

Chill, she just tried to be nice. But somehow it didn't really do its effect to him.

He never imagined seeing her again would go down like this.

He expected it to go down the opposite way, yeah, and not him being rude and throwing all these things to her head, but then again he actually believed that this moment would never come, so was he really to blame?

What have they turned into? Two strangers struggleing to have a prober conversation with each other and trying too hard not to tell the other how they really think about each other.
But it really was more than just a fact that his chest was full of anger, and sadness as well.
