Monday, back at school, the songs wouldn't stop to be stuck in their hands and every class they didn't have together soon turned into a hell of a lesson, not being able to talk about it with others.
The gig was Wednesday, and they had somehow got a set list of mostly only new songs together in a period of three days only. It was a bit frightening, but everyone of them was incredibly excited about it either.
He was focused, focused as never before on the music. It was like his whole life depended on that one gig, which wasn't even that much of a special one. It was like he wanted to see people's reactions to his work. To see if it was somewhat different compared to their usual stuff.
Today was Calum's day off of work, and he somehow couldn't wait to get back to it tomorrow.
As he did so on Tuesday, he basically flew into the pub at highest speed, and was really excited to see Kaycee was there again.
"You were right", he chuckled, "I forgot who I was originally writing for"
Kaycee smiled at him as she served a couple costumers there orders. As she came back to Calum filling the drinks into glasses, she said "See" and sat down in front of him on one of the bar stools.
"You were right", Calum repeated, still smiling and sticking his bottom lip out slightly, proud. He felt slightly embarrassed as he seemed to smile like a fool and she only partly paid attention to him. So he looked back down to fill the glasses up.
"I want you to come tomorrow, you know. We have a gig then.", Calum rumbled on, she still sitting ahead of him and looking around the pub.
"You want me to come?", she said, slightly confused.
"Yep.", he confirmed and nodded.
She flashed him a quick smile.
"I don't think I have a choice then""Very right", he replied.

The feeling that that you get when you are on stage is indescribable.
It doesn't matter if the crowd was totally into them [ which was barely the case ] or just got to know about them that night, it was always an incredible feeling to do what you love and being able to say that you can actually do it instead of hiding yourself in the basement. That way you could share your favorite thing with a lot of people, and hope, that others might find joy in it as well. Which was, sadly, never really the case.
But this night it was different.
Usually the crowd always rambled on and you could people covering their mouth to be able to hold a conversation with the music in the background. They laughed about jokes they told each other and moaned about how their set should quickly pass, and that they weren't exactly good at what they were doing.
They never listened to it though. Every band started off like them, being booked for gigs because another bigger, better band wasn't available for that night. It was the music that made them do what they did. And the love towards it.
This night is was like all the ither nights haven't even existed. The crowd was silent. All eyes focussed on the stage and listening to their music.
People laughed, people cried, but this time it was because of their music.
They were bold. In their very own element. They sounded better than all the nights before, and more confident too. It was as if you had just gotten your glasses and everything was set in the right focus, and nothing left blurry anymore. It was crystal clear all at once.
