»We're running out of time
We've got things on our mind
And things we just don't like
Who do you want to see?
Who do you want to be tonight?«
song: hard to swallow -
you me at six

There was nothing else that had to be said.
It was like their life was suddenly coated in a huge bubble, that the two of them were stuck in together. Esme knew she didn't have to try to be perfect, and Calum knew that it was okay to not be okay. Because he knew she would go to the same thing. Because he knew they still had the night. And that nobody could take that from them.
After silently agreeing on that the pub was no longer a decent place for them, he brought her back to his car and gave her one of the blankets that he had on the seats in the back. Eventhough it was soon to be summer and the rain had stopped by now, walking around the night in shorts probably wasn't the best idea.
The blanket wrapped around her shoulder, she sat down next to Calum in the car who was looking through the windscreen. Carefully, she leaned into him and he did it her alike. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, a deep breath of inhaling her smell and the smell of the night, the smell of silence, of current infinity.
"I have no idea what I'm actually doing.", Calum spoke slowly.
Every single thing seemes so friendly about this. He slowly and passionately moved his head against hers, his eyes still closed and reached out for her hands to take and intertwined his fingers with hers just as carefully.
"I know.", she replied and wished he didn't have to question all of this.
She knew there were a million questions on his mind right now. Wether it was the right thing to be with her in this situation, because of her leaving again and because he actually had a girlfriend that was probably dying of worrying for him in this moment.
"I don't wanna waste it.", Calum suddenly whispered and snapped her back to reality.
"What?"
"The night?"
Suddenly Calum sat up straight, his eyes wide opened.
She slowly removed her head from his shoulder, looking at him confused.
"Don't say anything-", Calum said and then grabbed behind his seat, looking for something. He then took out a pen a little note book, scribbled something down, and put it back down.
"Let's go"

"Hurry up", he said as they were back in philadelphia, and she was holding his hand and following him up the stairs, the notebook still in his hand.
He looked down on her and grinned, then looked back in front of him and pulled her after him.
With one swift motion he opened the huge steel door, and a hundred of tiny lights appeared in front of them.
Above the city, Esme stood still, still trying to figure out what was actually going on.
A minute later Calum returned with a black acoustic guitar in his hand. He reached out for her hand again, and lead her to stand in front of the city that was soaked in the, only from street lights illuminated and violet shimmering, darkness.
