It was band practise, when Michael had the idea.

To record some songs that Calum had written over the past months.

Everyone hated the idea of it, since they could, in no way, afford to go into a studio or whatever, but Michael insisted on recording in Ashton's basement. They had everything they needed, high quality or not, and could upload it to the internet or try to put a song or two onto a demo cd and send it out to area based record labels. Just for fun.

"Hold up, what?", Calum had said, a bit confused at this sudden idea. He looked at Luke, who was just sitting ahead of him now, resting his chin in his head, chewing on his fingernails while watching.

"We're making an album", Michael turned around to speak to his face.

"No, no we're not.", Ashton shook his head.

"Ash. Lukey.", Michael said turning back around, "Come on, you're not becoming freaking rock legends by sitting here all day long, and having one to two gigs a week if it even comes up. We gotta take it to another level."

Ashton nodded, biting his bottom lip.

"Guys", Luke muttered, "I think we gotta ask Calum at first, I mean it's his songs afterall. Maybe he doesn't want to share."

Ashton looking over his right shoulder to look at Luke and then directly turned to Calum whilst Michael just had to look across him.

"Calum", Michael said.

"I- I don't know if I want to-"

The idea of putting the songs out there in the widenworld of music was a bit frightening to him. It was okay to perform it in town, there was so competition and they just did they thing, but the effect the internet and sending it out to record labels would have as there were many other good bands was, well, a thing itsself.
Not just the bands where what scared him, it was the fact that people he didn't know would be able to listen to the songs.

He walked towards Calum and sat down next to him on the sofa. Calum turned his face away from him. "Listen, it's fine. I'm just saying this stuff is good. Better than good. It's brilliant. We all think so. I just think it's time the world deserves to know."

He did give in in the end.

After Calum looked back at him and after that at Luke and Ashton, all sitting in a round of him. And he felt the familiar feeling of family. Being here with his best friends. Eventhough these boys were the same people that he nearly lost contact to after his situation with Aline. The guys who always only wanted the best for him, and never gave up on him. The guys who were still treating him as the same person. The guys who were the people that had always, honestly, cared for him.

And music that helped him to feel better. Together, combined, everything that he had at the moment.

Everything was going so well lately.

So the next weeks were full of creativity. Ashton got into producing the tracks, and actually started to be good.

One day after they were too exhausted to go home, they just slept over at Ashtons.

Luke was snoring from the couch he shared with Michael, Calum laid with Ashton on his bed. At one point he heard Michael whisper his name.

"Aye Calum"

"Yeah", he mumbled back.

"You're with this girl right", he said but it didn't sound like a question.
