Maya's POV
"Maya!" Two voices yelled, waking me up.
I immediately sat up and looked around the room, registering what I saw. Yesterday was real. Uncle Cal adopted me and took me back to Australia. I was home.
Luke and Uncle Ash stood in the doorway with wide eyes and big smiles.
"Maya's back!" Luke yelled.
"Maya?" Dad said and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.
Luke and Uncle Cal snickered while watching his face turn from tired to confused to amazed. I smiled and rolled my eyes at them.
"Maya!" Dad exclaimed when he realized it was me.
He enveloped me in a hug. I'd been dreaming of this moment for months; the moment I was finally back with my boys.
"When did you get here?" Luke asked.
"Early this morning," I said.
"Calum brought you, didn't he? The little bastard lied about going to his parents," Uncle Ash laughed.
"You should've woken me up," Dad said.
"I wanted to let you sleep. You needed it," I said.
Without warning, I was tackled by four large man-boys. I couldn't breathe.
"Dad, get off. I'm still weak from all the treatment," I wheezed, and they quickly got off.
"Sorry. What did they say about that?" Dad asked.
"I have to go every few months to make sure I don't relapse."
They all nodded their heads. I got up and went to my room. No one followed. I think they were still in shock.
I started moving things and rearranging the furniture. It didn't take long to unpack my clothes after I was done. I lazily threw them in my closet. They'd end up on the floor anyway.
Now, my posters. Great.
I grabbed the swivel chair from my desk and stood on it. I tried to reach over as far as I could to hang one up. The chair slipped from under me, and I fell to the floor. Luke opened the door and started laughing his ass off.
"It's not funny," I grumbled, getting up off the floor.
"Yeah, it is," he said and wiped a tear from his eye.
"Whatever."
"What were you doing?" Luke asked.
"I was trying to hang up my posters," I said.
"Do you need help?"
"What do you think?"
"I think you're too short for a sixteen-year-old," he said, grinning.
"Just help me hang these up," I said, trying not to smile.
"Alright."
He hoisted me up on his shoulders, and I taped the first one. He helped put up the others. We went downstairs where the guys were playing FIFA. Calum groaned in frustration as he lost a game.
"How the hell did I lose to you? How do I lose to someone who doesn't even like FIFA?" Uncle Cal yelled at Uncle Ash.
"It's because you suck," I said, sitting in between them.
"Oh, really," Uncle Cal said.
"Yeah. That's why I beat you on my first day here."
"That was just luck. I could beat you at FIFA any day," he said confidently.
