Maya's POV

I was bombarded with questions when I opened the door. The guys were practically on top of me, except Dad. He stood by the stairs, unamused by their actions.

"What happened? Where'd you go? What'd you do? Did he kiss you?" The three of them yelled all at once while following me across the room.

"Guys! Personal space," I said and shoved them away from me.

"Sorry. We just want to know how your date went," Luke said.

"And where you went," Uncle Cal added.

"And if he kissed you."

"We don't need to know the answer to the last question," Dad said.

"But we wouldn't mind knowing."

"Okay!" I yelled at Uncle Ash, who was the last one to speak. "We went to dinner at a restaurant on the beach. We danced for a while. And no, he didn't kiss me. May I go upstairs now?"

"Yes," Dad said and kissed my forehead. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight, Dad," I said and turned to the others, waving. "Bye. Don't even think about following me to get more information."

"What? We weren't going to do that," Uncle Ash scoffed humorously, clearly lying.

"You act more like a teenage girl than I do," I said and shook my head. "See you in the morning."

The floor was wobbly underneath me as I made my way to the staircase. Dizzy, I fell to the floor, nearly banging my head on the railing. Dark spots danced across my eyes as my vision became blurry.

"Maya!" Dad yelled, but I was already out.

*~*

I opened my eyes to see four faces hovering over me. They all sighed with relief.

"Are you okay?" Uncle Ash asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I answered and drank the water Dad had handed to me. "What even happened? Why am I on the floor?"

"You fainted. We didn't know what to do. It's never happened before," Luke said.

Memories came flooding back to me and almost caused me to black out again. My head started hurting excruciatingly. I leaned into the person next to me, cradling my head.

"What's wrong?" Dad asked.

"My head hurts. A lot," I whimpered.

"Do you want some medicine?" Uncle Ash asked.

I nodded and immediately regretted it. Pressure began to build up, creating a thud in my brain. Uncle Ash went to the medicine cabinet and gave me the pills. I waited for the medicine to take control.

"Maya, can I ask you something?" Uncle Ash asked.

"Yeah."

"Has this been happening? The headaches, I mean," he said.

"One or two, but never this bad. Why?" I asked.

He looked at Dad, who showed no emotion. What was he trying to say without me knowing?

"It's probably just a migraine. I'll set up an appointment for tomorrow. Just get some sleep, sweetheart," Dad said.

He walked me up the stairs, allowing me to lean on him for support. My legs felt like they could give out at any second.

"Thanks, Dad," I said as we entered my room.

"Do you want to cuddle with Luke tonight? I know that's what you do when you're upset," he said.
