"Is she alright?" Agad na tanong ni Sefarina nang makalabas si Lady Doreena mula sa kwarto ni Luna.
"What happened this time, Pharaohs?" Anito sa seryosong boses.
Nagkatinginan sila na para bang tinatanong ang isa't isa kung dapat ba nilang aminin ang nangyari.
"It was Armour. He wants her dead." Dire-diretsong sabi ni Dame na ikinasinghap nila.
"What?!"
"The fuck?"
Lady Doreena glanced toward the room where Luna was resting before lowering the clipboard in her hands.
With a flick of her wrist, a joule materialized beside her.
Sefarina watched as Lady Doreena skillfully manipulated it with her fingers, until an image of Luna's entire body scan emerged.
She zoomed in on Luna's head, revealing dark, thread-like veins wrapped around her brain, as if something sinister had seeped into her.
"I'm not sure when or how it happened, but he appears to have tainted Luna."
Lady Doreena moved her hand again, causing the projection of Luna's body within the joule to shift.
This time, they saw it, black threads spreading slowly through her veins, creeping outward like poison.
"You see those?" She circled the black tendrils that looked eerily like spilled ink. "I can't determine its exact effects yet, because I need to talk to Luna first to confirm my theory."
"Holy—"
"Can it be removed?" Iraia asked anxiously.
"I don't know, Iraia." Lady Doreena admitted honestly.
Her gaze returned to the joule as she gestured toward the areas she had marked. "It looks like it started from her body and gradually reached her brain."
She turned to the group, her expression sharp.
"Are you absolutely certain she never mentioned any headaches? Not even once?"
"Yes, Lady."
"She's always in her usual self. Maingay, palamura." Ngiwi ni Veton.
Ang pagtango ni Lady Doreena ay lalong nagpasikip sa dibdib ni Sefarina. Even she... she knows that Luna's pain tolerance is remarkable.
"She's brave. You see, our bodies are different from those of mere mortals. May mga ugat silang wala sa atin, at gano'n din tayo sa kanila."
"Luna's situation is a bit complicated. Hindi lang katawan niya ang apektado, kundi pati na rin ang utak niya, at one possible effect of it could be her skull fracturing."
Napaubo si Veton, na agad hinampas ni Pream sa likod. "Tangina ka, masakit!"
"I mean it literally," dagdag niya.
Natahimik naman sila at hindi malaman kung ano ang sasabihin. Gano'n ba kalala ang nararamdaman ng kaibigan nila nang hindi nila namamalayan?
"May mga instances bang nangyari na 'to dati? I mean, has this happened before—her passing out because her head hurts?" Agad naman silang nagsiilingan.
