Enfys sighed and rolled over in bed. Even though it was only 4 a.m., she was wide awake. She yawned and got up, realizing there was no point in trying to sleep anymore.
She grabbed her sweatshirt to keep warm and went downstairs to get some milk. When she reached the first floor, she saw the four guys getting their backpacks ready, stuffing them with clothes and... weapons.
Veton had practically emptied the fridge, putting everything he could into his bag. Arrow was focused on tying his shoes. Pream was still asleep on the sofa bed, snoring lightly, while Damien sat in a quiet corner with his eyes closed, deep in thought.
Why were they up so early? And what were they preparing for?
"Good morning," she greeted, her voice laced with curiosity.
"Magandang umaga, binibini."
Pream was the first to respond, raising his head with a wave before pressing a finger to his lips.
"Bawal maingay," he said with a grin.
Enfys frowned as she moved closer to the counter to grab a slice of bread.
Something didn't feel right. The boys were unusually quiet, and they wouldn't be like that unless they were hiding something.
"A secret mission, I see," she said, nodding while biting into her bread.
Damien stood up and walked toward the exit near the glass panes, his bulky knapsack slung over his shoulder.
He was dressed in his usual tee and slacks, but the cap covering his face made him look even more mysterious than usual.
"Be careful," she called, watching them closely.
Pream grinned, and Veton blew her a flying kiss. Arrow only nodded at her, his face serious.
She chewed her bread, waiting for them to leave. When Damien turned back toward her, she restrained a small grin.
He should be aware that, above all others, she will be prioritizing his woman the most.
"Keep an eye on her," he said as he walked away.
I don't need to be reminded, half-blood. I always have, and I will continue to do so.
Enfys watched them leave, putting the pieces together in her mind. The boys were on a mission, something bigger than they were letting on.
As they disappeared into the distance, she knew everything was about to change.
"Enfys! Wake up!"
With a swift motion, Enfys grabbed the pillow from whoever was trying to wake her and placed it behind her head, trying to block out the noise.
"En, gabi na!"
She didn't respond, pretending to snore, but they still managed to take the blanket from her. Left with no choice, she sat up and gave the three girls a glare.
"Please, let me sleep." Nagmamakaawa niyang sabi.
Enfys had tried to sleep right after the guys left. After eating her bread, she threw herself back into bed, but her senses were awake, keeping her from fully resting.
Everything around her felt more intense lately.
The future was beginning to frighten her. It was terrifying seeing how things would unfold, but even scarier was seeing it all happen and knowing where it would lead.
