Pt. 10

FRANKIE'S POV

My mom as always asking us to come over tonight which I dont mind doing because for one I love my mama and two I love her cooking so she know im there. I see no reason why she has to ask. I told her we would be over there and to let us know when everything done so we can get a hot meal, well me exactly. I picked Innocence up from day care a little bit early today since I wanted to spend time with my little one. Hopefully Lana would be down for today, wanted to do a little family day out since it feels like a good day to just get out the house and do something. I called her but she wasnt answering the phone. I called two more times and she finally answered.

Me: Hey where you at?

Lana: Im out right now. why wassup ?

Me: Well I wanted to do something with you and Innocence today. When you gone be home?

Lana: Umm soon. What time you plan on heading out?

Me: Well i just picked her up so ima head to the house and change real quick

Lana: Ok. I'll be home soon

I hung up the phone and I felt like she was being around the bush about eveything but I know how she can be sometimes so I wasnt gone sweat it. I was going to make the best of today since I was in a good mood. So hopefully if she's feeling some type of way, today would help out with that. I made my way home and changed out of my clothes and got something out for innocence. One thing about Innocence, she is 2 and fiesty. Just like Lana but she was way too smart for me though. Sometimes I wonder how she learn things so fast but I leave it alone because its actually a good thing. I put on something comfortable and waited for Lana to get home. While I waited I fixed Innocence a quick snack so it would hold her over. I texted Lana and called her but she wasnt answering, straight voicemail. My mood shifted a bit and I was going to say forget about the whole day. But I know I gotta stick through her ways sometimes. A few moments later I heard a car lock and she finally came through the door.

"What happened to your phone?". I asked her as she put her stuff down.

"Its dead, why what happened?".

"I was calling you. I mean we been here for a while so I was checking to see where you was". She gave Innocence kisses on her face and then got something to drink out the fridge.

"It was traffic. But im here relax, where we suppose to be going anyway?".

"Its a surprise. Come on".

"Uh uh I aint going nowhere like this. Let me change right quick". On the inside I was boiling up. But I had to relax a bit because of the reason of me doing this in the first place.

"Babe your fine trust me. No need to change, I promise". She took a deep breath and gave me the side eye. Grabbing her purse off the counter, I picked up innocence while she drunk her juice and headed out the door. I put innocence in the back seat and then got in the front. Lana was on her phone and her energy felt different like she was out of it or something. But she was always on her phone and attached to it so I left it alone.

"The zoo huh. Hmm what you did?". Lana said laughing.

"Girl what? Why I had to do something?".

"Hmm I dont know you tell me". I rolled my eyes and got out the car.

"I just wanted to have a little family day with my two ladies today. Thats a crime now?".

"Not at all love. Just know I got my eyes on you". I got Innocence stroller out the trunk, locked my car and walked towards the entrance. The reason why im doing this is so that we can release this tension, this slight distance between us. Just to get out the house and do things we havent done, or even get the time to do. I can tell Innocence was loving everything she saw cause she wanted to touch everything. I paid for our entrance and headed in. Today it wasnt so packed only because its still school hours and most people are still at work. The best time to come. We walked by the flamingos, tigers, lions, and the baby monkeys. I think Innocence liked the monkeys cause she kept laughing at them when they were running back and forth on there little course in the cage.

"This is nice. I like family time". Lana put this smile on her face. The smile I remembered when I first met her at my cousin's basketball game. Shit was so beautiful, missed that so much.

"I just wanted to get out, do something different, spend time with the love of my life. I miss us, things aint been the same. There's this distance and I need us to get back". She stayed quiet, not saying anything or showing any emotions to what I just said. "You looking like you wanna tell me something".

"No everything is good. Just feeling the same way. Trying to figure out when did everything become this way. I hate it I truly do. Your my bestfriend and I love you so fucking much. Things just dont feel the same, I need us to get back too".

"I think we just dont have time anymore. Our schedules clash with each other, when I come home your tired. When you come home im tired. How about this, how about I switch my schedule up that way we can have more time for ourselves and get out like we use to".

"Hmph . Look at you using that big head of yours. Im messing with you babe but that would make me feel a whole lot better, foreal". She gave me a kiss and we kept walking around the park. Letting Innocence feed the giraffes, and the goats. Today went as planned, and im happy about that. One step forward and leaving everything in the past.
