David had left around eight after two hours of non-stop singing and laughing.
It was odd how she felt the world stop when she was around David.
Evanee thought back to the night at the beach. Becoming ill was the main memory she had when remembering that night, but she also remebered how she got sick. She remembered letting her feet soak in the cool, ocean water. Then the memory of a gentle touch flooded her thoughts. The feeling of having David's hand connected with hers and staring into a never-ending body of water.
It had occured to Evanee that thinking of him in this way was horrible. He was nothing but a friend and that's all he ever will be.
There were only three times Evanee had seen David entirely differently than she usually did. It was the night they had first sang together, the night they went to the beach, and the peaceful moment they shared laying down in the middle of a field. Each of these memories held a odd similarity. They all occured in a happy environment. Either their surroundings were beautiful, like the ocean and field or they were just joyful.
It wasn't him that made her happy. It was her surroundings, or at least that's what Evanee told herself.
Then there was Evan. It was always black and white with Evan. There was no in between. There'd be times where Evanee adored him and times where there was nothing else she'd love more than to punch his face. It was one or the other and it was a complete mess, but she could say that her feelings for Evan were real.
"Evangeline?" The teenage girl tore her eyes away from the window across the street that revealed light passing through the blinds. She removed her earphones and turned to face her aunt. "Hey, ducky. How are you?"
"I'm good, Gemma. Where's Drew?"
Drew had been going out an awful lot with Gemma, leaving Evanee at home by herself. The raven haired girl didn't mind, but she missed spending Saturdays with Gemma.
She had nothing against Drew, but they didn't really talk much. He was her aunt's boyfriend who had moved in. There wasn't much to talk about. Everytime she'd see him, she'd smile and maybe ask how he is but she's never been able to hold a conversation with him.
"He's out cold. Drove us all the way to Downtown LA and back," Gemma answered and took a seat next to Evanee, who was comfortably laying down on her bed. "I'm sorry for not being home as much, Ev. You've been a bit distant with me and I guess that's my fault. I just want to get to know Drew more. I can really see a future with him."
That made Evanee smile. Her aunt always told her that her future wasn't planned. Gemma didn't like thinking too much about the future, but here she was, admitting that she's thiught of spending even more time with the man she liked.
Evanee sat up and hugged Gemma. "I love you Gemma and I'm so happy you found someone who makes you happy."
"Thank you ducky. Get some sleep now. You have school tomorrow," Gemma said, tucking Evanee like she used to when she was a child. "Love you."
"Love you too Gemma."
------------
"Are you going to keep acting like a child?"
The silence after her question had answered for Evan, so Evanee sighed and sat down next to him without speaking. Evan had driven her to school, but he did not speak to her at all along the way.
"We've officially been together for less than a month, Evan. I don't want to fight with you, so if you're going to act like this all the time, I can say its over now if you want," Evanee told him. "I don't want to spend my senior year fighting with my boyfriend."
"You know that's the first time you actually called me your boyfriend?" A smile lit up his features as he spoke.
"God, I swear you're bipolar." The raven haired girl remarked before reaching up to kiss Evan. "So are you okay with me going to homecoming with David?"
There was a small amount of silence that left Evanee in sincere anticipation.
Evan sighed. "Yeah. I'm sorry, again. I don't mean to get so angry, you know? It's just that you two have been hanging together a lot and he asked you out before we started dating."
"I get it Evan, but I don't want to have to go through this anymore. So please, just trust me."
She recieved a quick kiss as a response and her smile quickly reappeared. "Good. Now since we made up and you drove us here super early, how about we go to Cinnabon and Starbucks for breakfast?"
--------------
"You guys are confusing," Nogla remarked after seeing the two teenagers kissing. "I thought you guys were fighting." He got a mumbled response between the mouth to mouth action occuring in front of him. "I'm going to throw up."
"Agreed," Tyler said, sitting down next to David and making a disgusted face. "It was more fun when we joked around instead of you guys eating each other's faces."
Jonathan appeared out of nowhere and physically wedged himself between Evan and Evanee to stop the horrible amount of PDA between the two.
Evanee wasn't used to having Evan so close, but god, did she enjoy it. Though, she realized that her friends shouldn't have to deal with them as a couple for now. For now, they were all friends spending their morning together.
So she didn't mind when Delirious slid her away from Evan, though the same couldn't be said for him. "Anyways, how are you and Kelly?" Evanee asked Tyler
"First date was perfect. Second date is going to even better. You're the best wingwoman ever."
"How about you find me someone as well?" Delirious asked.
Evanee's remark left in laughter. "Once I find a crazy motherfucker like yourself, I'll be sure to let you know."
The bell rang before Jonathan could reply with a good comeback and he pouted in response, promising to get her back later.
Life was good and Evanee was happy, but she knew that meant that more bad times were to come soon.
