"Ouch! Cut it out, Lily", I said as Lily was pinching my ear.
"You've been dozing off the whole time. Have you understood anything today?" She asked.
"It can't be helped, I haven't slept well last night", I said.
Until this moment, I could still remember the time I got close to Jack's face. Oh, why am I feeling like this? It's so awkward.
"Kyla!!!" Steve yelled.
He's my classmate and one of the weirdest students in the campus. " I saw a ghost inside the science lab", he said.
Those words perked me up.
"Lily, come on. Let's go!" I said lively.
"Here we go again" Lily said.
We entered the Science lab to discover what kind of ghost would be haunting in there. Steve said it appeared when they were about to close the lab a while ago. When they turned off the lights, they suddenly saw the scalpel lifted in the air like someone was holding it.
Lily and I kept an eye on one side of the lab while the lights were off. Lily was frightened as usual. All the biology experiments displayed also added the horror.
"Lily, are you still afraid? You already saw an actual ghost, right?" I asked.
"Yeah, but every case is different. It's really scary when we do this kind of stuff", Lily replied.
The day ended and we didn't see the ghost. I guess Steve was just fooling around. Lily went home but I wanted to see Jack first. It was my routine to have a talk with him in the mansion before I head home.
"Kyla, these are for you." Jack gave me a bouquet of white roses. " I forgot most of my duties as a butler here in the mansion but since you came, I was surprised to see those bloom again." He said, and smiled at me.
I felt this crazy heartbeat again. My face blushed like peaches. He knelt down in front of me and with a smile, he confidently said, "I love you, Kyla."
I was shocked. I dropped the bouquet I was holding and stepped backward. I looked around to find something to distract my attention. At the side table, I saw the lab's scalpel.
"Hey! What's that scalpel doing there?" I asked rapidly.
"Oh, that? I kind of lifted it off from your school's lab. I do sculptures when I'm bored", he said.
Okay, so accidentally, I solved the mystery of the ghost in the Science Lab. It was Jack all along. I've managed to change our topic and made him forget about what he said a while ago.
Oh my, what was that?! Did I hear him correctly? Did he really say…
