After an hour after the sun came up we were all standing in a line getting instructions from Reagan and Cameron.
"This is the most efficient fishing knot I have ever used and I'm going to show you"
Cameron held a fishing hook and line up to us. She looked professional with her white bandana tied around her head and her sunglasses on.
I felt like Kyle and Georgia and I were getting taught like a group of kindergarteners, but alright.
"You spin it five times, tuck it under here, and you pull tightly"
Cameron was showing me the knot
She came down the line instructing us on our own fishing poles. Reagan came behind her showing us how to attach weights and a bobber, and her instructions weren't so clear other than, you wrap it in the line and go for it.
I wasn't afraid of worms but putting the slippery creature on the hook was gross. The dirt an slime coated my fingers with a gross film that made me curl my lip.
After failing to cast my pole a few times I felt her arms come behind me and her fingers trace over mine as she guided the pole.
"You keep your finger on the button until your ready"
She guided the pole back. And motioned it towards the water.
"Then you press in the button when you want to let the string come out"
She smiled at me.
"You reel it up to lock it back so you can feel when a fish is on your hook, or when your bobber goes underwater"
She kissed my shoulder and stood beside me as I grew content with waiting for a fish to take my bait so I'd catch something and be excited.
After minutes of watching the bobber float around on the surface Reagan walked back next to me telling me to check my bait.
I reeled in my line exposing a half eaten worm.
"They took your worm from you!"
She giggled, sliding a new worm up my hook.
This time I castes my own pole and it landed closely to the same spot Reagan had helped me cast it earlier.
After minutes of watching the bobber float it sank under the water and I began reeling in my line.
"REAGAN!"
I shouted.
She smiled at me waiting for the fish to come out of the water an soon a tiny bluegill was hanging from my hook.
"You know how to take one off?"
She smiled.
I shook my head and watched as she carefully ran her hands down the body of the fish to hold him and she maneuvered the hook from his mouth.
She instructed me too hold the fish by the mouth so she could get a picture of me with my first fish, I smiled at her and the camera and I leaned down and put the fish back in the water.
"That was good for your first fish"
"It was fun"
I smiled, reaching for her hand as we joined the others who were complaining about one thing or another.
Kyle reeled in his line confessing that he gave up because the fish weren't hungry, and Georgia said she couldn't touch the worm or the fish.
I chuckled to myself seeing Cameron back in her zone. In her world for a little while. She was crouched down on a rock fishing differently than we were with our poles.
I nodded to Reagan telling her that she should help them catch fish too. I walked back and leaned against a tree and slid down sitting in between the roots.
I watched Reagan show Kyle how to properly cast, but instead of going behind him she went to the side, she treated her sister an I the same and soon they were both in the water.
