"Georgia I'm in the driveway now come on!"
Reagan shouted at her sister on the phone. It's been weeks since I seen her so I was kind of glad to be checking up on her, within a minute Georgia ran out of Erin's front door and gave a mean stare towards Reagan.
"You're so mean to me!"
"Now that you're done yelling like you are five, we're going to see dad!"
Reagan put the car in reverse and backed out quickly.Georgia shut up instantly and crossed her arms.
"Well it's half your fault""What's even an issue right now? All I needed was for you to take a little time from your friends and focus on family"
Georgia pulled her golden hair from her face and pouted the whole way to the hospital.
"Steven Armstrong"
Reagan told the receptionist."Okay, the visiting time is thirty minutes to an hour depending on how well he is feeling"
She smiled, handing us each a sticker to show we were visitors.I stared down at the neon green sticker that said the hospital name and Reagan's dads name.
We walked into a square room full of tables and chairs and Reagan glanced up at the doorway waiting for her father. Within minutes the familiar man waved at us and smiled brightly.
"My girls"
He looked at Reagan an Georgia.Reagan smiled at him and grabbed his hands.
"How is it?"He let out a confident breath of fresh air.
"Hi my name is Steven and I'm an alcoholic"I stared at the man who I was determined to help. But this was his kids visiting him, I was going to respect that and not budge in on more ways I can help.
"I brought something to show you"
Reagan pulled her book from her lap."I published it"
She smiled. He held the book so delicately as if it was a newborn baby.
"Reagan, you did it"Georgia smiled wide at her sister for finally doing what she always said she'd end up doing.
"That's your copy, you can keep it and read it, encouragement or something"
He smiled
"I'm doing well here, no more cold sweats at night, the alcohol I can still taste on my tongue, but my liver, my liver needed a break"He finally turned to me and caught my eyes.
"Thank you Katie, for everything, I'll pay you back"I swallowed the lump in my throat.
"Mr. Armstrong, it's not a problem, don't worry about it"He stared over at his children and then back at me
"Are you sure?"I nodded
"Mhm"The intercom came on , the receptionist told us our visiting time was up and Steven stood with his daughters book in his hand.
"I love you guys"
He smiled.I waved at him and followed the two out of the hospital. I knew the car ride home would be quiet.
