"You remember those old times when you'd camp out on my couch and occasionally steal your brothers room"
I smiled at Brooke as we sat outside in the sand watching the water.

Far off down the beach other families played in the water, laughing and having fun.

"Yeah I remember, you took me to New York, you were just like "let's go" and we went"
She laughed, taking a drink of her wine cooler.

"You know I'm the black sheep in my family"
She continued.

"I knew you were, but you and Kyle get along great"

She smiled and dug her bare feet in the sand.
"Yeah, we do he's awesome, but seriously, Kyle has the mansion covered, he's next in line for that, I got nothing"

"You got me, you got a job at a very cool store as a receptionist"
I smirked.

"One day you could even get promoted to the back being an artist"

"Oh yeah?"
Brooke laughed.

"Okay, look at the ocean, the sand, tell me the story"

"Like what we did at the art gallery?"
Brooke laughed.

I nodded and shifted my legs in the sand, wiping the warm grains off my legs.

"She's solid land that turns into water, but not for you to struggle to swim, but for you to discover, so many missing parts, so many unlocked doors, but she's special, she's not like a small pond or a lake, she's an ocean, she's full of life, so much life an wonderment, and it's like it can go on forever, all the way to the horizon, and just when you feel like you've looked as far as you can, you blink and you feel the cool water brush your fingertips again and there's a whole different horizon to get too"

My stomach tightened as I stared at the water. The horizon burning the water, the boats and the people, so free.

"That's your perception"

"I'm in love"
She whispered.

I felt her stare on me and I turned to look at her.
"I'm in love with Georgia -"

"And I don't want to hurt her, she's so delicate and broken, and I just want to fix her-"

I put my arm around her shoulder and pulled her into me.
"You can't fix somebody, you can only be there by there side while they fix themselves, but if you love her you'll learn and figure out how to love her the best ways possible"

"So what do I do just watch her cry and try not to look at the new scars on her arms?"

"No you don't, you be her comfort, you be her way out"

I licked my lips.
"Loving someone with depression and self harm issues is hard, it's a roller coaster, but she loves you, Georgia loves you, she loves you with everything good in her"

"I just want her to not be so broken"

"Then help her find her path, plant flowers in her heart and let the sun shine through"

"I love the way she reads her books, and the way her hands wrap around a cup of hot chocolate, her hair it wraps around her neck and when she laughs her cheeks turn this shade of pink and her smile it's the most breath taking thing"
Georgia spoke so freely of her. It made me smile at the way people describe the ones they love. Reagan was my butterfly, my key, my flashlight, and the love of my life, all at the same time.

Love is a beautiful thing.

"Time heals everything"
I whispered.

Brooke stood up and walked out towards the water, her bare feet touching the tide as it reached for land over and over again. I slowly stood up and went to her side.

"You think Georgia and I will last?"
She whispered in the wind.

I licked my lips tasting the salt in the air and smiled. I thought back to the conversation with Leah, and her first love.

"I think age has nothing to do with anything, your sixteen, you got a lot of time, hearts can grow fonder. Love can grow stronger, it's just up too you to sail the ship, if you want her like you say you do you'll hold on even in the toughest of storms, and you'll see the sunny day, and you'll see her healed arms and your own success and fortune"

Brooke took a breath of fresh air and reached for my hand.
"You have been the closest thing I've ever had to a best friend or a sister, and I love you for that"

"I love you too Brooke, you know that"
I smiled.

The sunset rolled down the water and the moon rose into the sky, the stars finding there places as all the lonely hearts stared up above.

Hoping.
