"why are you crying, eren?" i ask, stroking the back of his neck as he quietly cries into my shoulder.
"b-because... ugh, i-" eren starts crying again before he completes his sentence.
"sweetie, don't force yourself to tell me anything." i say softly. eren shakes his head against my shoulder.
"n-no, i want to. its just... the words won't come out." eren mumbles, his tears slowly fading.
"take your time, i'm in no hurry." i soothe.
"i think- i mean i am asexual and agender." eren whispers, barely audible.
i hug him tighter.
"that's absolutely fine, and i'm so happy for you. why are you so upset?" i ask.
eren sighs.
"i don't know. i guess i thought- i don't know what i thought. it's just... intimidating. having this thing inside you that you can't explain, but you know makes you different." i kiss eren's forehead.
"i know how you feel." i reassure with a small smile. "can i just ask now, what pro-nouns?" i laugh softly.
"oh, they/them." eren mumbles, with a smile.
"okay. i'll always love you eren, no matter what. promise." eren nods against my chest.
"so, do you want hot chocolate or-"
"what happened, where's the fire, where's the bomb, where's the carcass, what's wrong?!" dan exclaims, tumbling into eren's room.
me and eren laugh at dan's outburst.
eren walks over to dan and whispers something in his ear, whilst standing on their tiptoes. dan stares at me whilst listening, before breaking into a huge smile and picking eren up in a hug.
"i'll love you, no matter what. you know that, don't you?" dan says to eren, quietly. i smile at his sweet reaction.
"yeah, i know. i love you too." eren laughs.
"have you told willow?" dan asks, breaking away from eren.
"oh, she already knows. she said it was fine." eren says, with a wave of their hand.
"you told her before us?! how rude!" i laugh.
"sorry." eren shrugs, sitting down at their desk.
"it's fine, now call us if you need help with that... fucking trigometery! i-i mean, i love trigometery." dan and eren laugh, before dan kisses eren's forehead.
"please don't be afraid to tell us anything, eren." dan says. eren nods, before turning to their homework.
dan looks up at me, a grin on his face. i walk out of eren's room with dan.
"i thought you were dying, you idiots." dan laughs, before hugging me.
i pull away just to kiss him softly.
"so what were we saying about riley and zelda?" i ask, grinning as dan kisses me again.
