*Addie's POV*
August 3, 2013"Sorry I'm late, Bryan!" I holler through the door to my boss as I run into Starbucks for my morning shift. It's 6:07 and I'm supposed to be here before 6. I'm actually a punctual person, so I'm sure he wont mind me being a few minutes late. "Traffic was a mother this morning." I add.
"No problem!" Bryan replies, "Just punch in and get your apron on and get to it!" Bryan is a really nice guy with a shiny, bald, shaved head. He has a little bit of a stache too. It's brown with a hint of ginger. The rest of the staff and myself tease him that he shaves his head because he's embarrassed about being a ginger even though it's more brown than ginger.
"Mmkay, ginge!" I sing to him with a smirk on my face. He looks up from the drink he's making and glares at me.
Bryan calmly sets down his drink and looks around, scoping the area, then turns back to me and slowly walks toward me. He's inches in front of my face. He leans into my ear and whispers, "I will throw you out of the drive through window if you call me a ginge again." I stand there, frozen, as did he until I hear a snicker come out of him and we both burst out laughing. Bryan really really sucks at acting mad, well, acting in general.
"Firecrotch." I reply with an excessive feminine tone to my voice. "Sassy." I finish, emphasizing the "s". Bryan simply laughs at my response while I continue to the employee room. I grab my apron and check-in, then I go straight to work.
Time starts to fly by and before I know it, it's 11:00 o'clock and time for my lunch break. Bryan turns to me and says, "Hey, I'm hungry." I put my pointer finger up to him, letting him know I need a minute or two before I'm ready to go. I just now remember that it's Bryan's turn to take me to lunch. Once a week, Bryan and I go to lunch together and we switch off taking the other person to whatever place we choose, and whoever picks has to pay too.
I get my purse and jacket from the employee room and skip back into the lounge area. Bryan is waiting for me by the door. I holler a "cya" to our co-workers. I walk up to the door and we head out to his car. As we start to leave, he tells me that he's taking me to take me to McDonalds.
I hate McDonalds. I haven't had it since middle school and when Bryan and I got closer, that's when I had broke my streak. I was planning on fasting today and skipping all my meals today but I guess I forgot while planning my day that it was Bryan's turn.
Bryan doesn't know that I'm watching my weight. I have a feeling that he does, but he hasn't said anything so far.
One Hour Later
After lunch, we went back to work and now it's time for me to clock out. At McDonalds, I lied and said I had a breakfast buffet with one of my roommates and that I only wanted a smoothie. Plus, I really didn't want him to spend a lot of money on me. I just don't like when people spend money on me.
4 o'clock in the afternoon.
"Waitress!"
Okay, I love my job at the The Garden a little more than Starbucks, but this is a crazy, busy night. There is this huge concert in town and I guess some people like to load up on caviar and overpriced steaks before or after it. This group of girls loaded up on the free sushi sample appetizers and something else that's Russian, then they left. Who does that? I just can't wait until my shift ends. I'm tired and weak. I've done more physical running around today than I normally do.
I turn around to where the yelling is coming from. Then I hear someone yelling, "Waitress!"
I see some guy who looks about my age with another guy that looks about 10 years older than him. I act quickly by putting on a very much fake smile and approach his table. "Yes? I'm sorry, sir, did I forget something?" I reply with a bit of sincerity concern mixed with my words.
