"Why would you do that?" I snap at him.
"Oh come on, the girl looked really cute, you couldn't say no to that face"
"You're putting the blame on her. Ibrahim I've never even talked to a kid before. You're the youngest person I have talked to. I don't know what to do, what to say and what was she on about when she said play. There's so many versions of playing. I don't know what to do" I shake my head.
"Hey, she's a 6 year old kid. Before the party just take her out and buy her some toys and then you can play with them with her"
"How?"
"I don't know, she will though. She can be your teacher" he hides a smile.
He's finding this funny.
"Urghh" I groan as I flop onto my bed.
"Come on, the party's tonight and we need to get ready"
"What do you mean. I am ready."
"My sweet stupid sister" he pats my head or in this case hijab. "For parties people have to get changed into something more formal and a little bit jazzy"
"And you think I have that in my wardrobe?" I quirk an eyebrow.
"Well we went shopping today why didn't you say anything?" He throws his hands in the air.
"Well I didn't know"A knock interupts our talk.
I get up to answer it.
"Oh hey Alex" I open the door and let her come in.
"Oh no she's back. Why don't you leave me alone woman. I'm younger than you. You may be hot and beautiful but that doesn't mean you get your way. We can't carry on the relationship you have in your mind" Ibrahim says dramatically.
Alex rolls her eyes trying to hide the redness from her cheeks while I stiffle a laugh.
"You need to leave Sir, Zayna needs to get ready"
"Oh, so it makes sense that you call her by her name but you call me, a person younger than her, sir?"
Alex looks at me then at him.
"Sorry?"
"Call me by my name please" he says and then he walks out. That was weird.
"Alright, what's that" I point to the thing she has in her hand.
She unzips it and immediately I'm shaking my head.
"I'm not wearing that"
I look at the heavily embroidered dress.
"But Madam said you had to"
"Madam" I mimick "can't force me to do anything" I smirk
Alex looks uncomfortable.
"Chill Alex, I won't get you in trouble, I'll just put something together and tell her the truth"
"At least let me help you get ready"
"Erm, Alex. I'm not. I mean, I don't need help in getting changed"
She laughs.
"I meant, I need to put make-up on you"
"Do you have to?" I whine.
"Yes now come on, we're getting late" she says as she pushes me to the bathroom.
"For what. The party is in this house. I'm practically early"
I take a shower then pick out my clothes.
I make sure Alex puts light make-up on me. She does a thin winged liner and adds mascara. She adds neutral eyeshadow and puts a nude lipstick on.
"There done" she smiles.
Ibrahim comes in, he's wearing a buttoned-up shirt with jeans.
"Wow, you look nice" he comments. "Thanks" I say.
"I was talking to Alex, don't interfere" he shushes me. Alex tinges red and I burst out laughing.
"Alex, say thanks" I tease.
She hits me playfully and walks out the room.
"You're so mean to her" I tell him.
"You're no better" he says while smirking.
"Right, now we need to get some things for that girl" I say.
"But how do you know what she likes?"
I slump on my chair.
"I don't know"
"When she comes then you can take her, aren't you going to get that other girl?"
"Ashley? Yeah I might as well"
I call her and to say she was happy would be the least. She came to my house an hour later and she gushed about my outfit.
"I thought I'd dress modest because if I came in a short dress, I think I'd be kicked out" she says making me laugh lightly. She's wearing a really sparkly long dress with her hair in curls. She looks really nice.
"Right, there's going to be this little girl and she's about six, I think, and I don't know what to get her"
Just then the girl comes rushing inside and before I know it. I'm attacked to the floor in a hug. I hear her giggling and squealing.
"Er hi" I say hesitantly.
"Hiiii" she says loudly.
She tries to gets off me and I lean on my elbows waiting for her to get up. I tilt my head to the right and see the boy wearing and amused look on his face and Ibrahim smirking at me.
"You guys are finding this hilarious aren't you" and that's it, they all start laughing. Even Ashley.
I get up and brush the back of my clothes with my hands.
The girl tugs my dress making me look at her.
"I wanna play" she says, more like commands. I sigh.
"I know, but I don't have any toys. Shall we go get some?"
"Yeahhhh. Come on. Lets go" she tugs my dress forcing me to walk in the direction of the door.
"Wait" she stops. I carry her in my arms, she's surprisingly light. Her small arms wrap around my neck and she looks at me. She's making me quite uncomfortable.
"I like your eyes" she says. Unconsciously my eyebrows raise and I nod once.
"Thank you. I like your eyes too" I say mostly because I can't think of anything.
I hear sniggering behind me making me turn and face the three stood together.
"I'm going to need your help, in case you forgot I'm not used to this place so I don't know where the toy shops are"
They all follow and we sit in the car. "Hey Robert" I smile as I get in.
"Where to?" He smiles.
"To get toys" the girl squeals next to me. Robert laughs at my uneasy face. Why is everyone finding this so funny?
"Alright then" he says and starts driving.
