The local coffee shop had the worst coffee.
But it's John's favorite spot so I put up with it. So I end up on this fine afternoon sitting legs propped up on the table drinking shitty coffee waiting for John.
The bell above the door rings and a panting and sweaty from running buck toothed boy hurries in rushing over to my table. "S-Sorry Sollux Jake's lesson went a little long today"
"Itth okay John I don't mind" did I mention I have a lisp? A bad one too.
"Thanks, did you order anything?"
"Jutht thome thitty coffee"
"Well then I'll get some thit- I MEAN SHITTY coffee too" he quickly corrects himself on copying me. I think it's all kinds of adorable when he does but I can't let him know that so I just give him soft glare.
He turns around going to the front counter ordering his coffee before coming back and sitting across the table from me with his dorky grin.
Above his head a girl with long hair and blank white eyes came into my focus. She was obviously a ghost from the look of her eyes and the faint red glow that came from her skin, I give her a smile and wave and she gave a small smile back.
"How are you?" I mouth as not to scare John because he obviously can't see her being human.
"I am g00d can n0t c0mplain, what ab0ut y0u?" She talks calmly as if we were having a private conversation.
"How are you Sol?" John asks right after her.
I decide that that is perfect and answer both of them at once,"I'm good lonely motht of the time my bro ith thtill not home off thomewhere tho I jutht thit at home motht timeth" I lie about having family to live with because John would flip his shit and tell me to live with him, and Jake is his guardian since his dad and Jane moved to New York, so it would basically be a death sentence because as oblivious John is to my secret Jake would figure it out in a second.
"That sucks do you know where he is?" He asks worried
"0h y0u n0t like being l0nely" ghost girl asks
"No" I answer both again.
"I could keep you company" John says a little quieter and I swear he leans across the table some.
"That would be great John but not right now I have to meet up with thomeone" I glance up towards my new ghost friend.
"Okay text me whenever" John grins and I get up peck his cheek and walk out quickly without another word.
Outside I leisurely stroll along as ghosty floats beside me,"tho what'th your name?"
"Aradia is my name" she dead pans,"what is y0urs?"
"Thollux and that'th a cool name"
"Thank y0u y0ur name is c00l as well" I turn around to hug her.
It isn't a proper hug because my arms almost pass through her but I can still feel her skin it's freezing. She smiles more when I do though and hugs back and I can feel her cold arms on my back.
"Do you alwayth feel thith cold? Can ghothtth even feel cold ith that a thing that exithtth?"
"I have n0t felt many things in a l0ng time c0ld being 0ne but thank y0u f0r that hug it made me feel better if even f0r a brief time"
"No problem" I grin,"thorry it wathn't the betht my thupernatural ablilites are limited"
"Yes I can see that, I als0 see that y0u are n0t a full vampire that is interesting"
"Yeah that'th jutht me thhitty family hithtory for you"
I can see she chuckles a bit which makes me smile more to the point where my fangs are clearly showing.
"Y0ur l00k much nicer smiling, maybe if y0ur sh0wed that smile t0 the b0y in there y0u 0bvi0usly like y0u c0uld get s0mewhere"
"What I don't.." I sigh,"I can't tell him he'th a hunter he would have my head"
She moves forward again in a comforting hug,"it is 0kay everything will w0rk 0ut eventually"
"Thankth Aradia" I pull back,"Well I'm going to hang out with John for a bit now, hope we can do thith again thome time"
"Yes that w0uld be m0st enj0yable"
"Bye" I wave walking away getting out my phone to text John.
TA: hey egderp
No answer. After fifteen minutes I start to get impatient and put my phone away walking into the forest for a bite it eat, I haven't hunted in about a week and I'm starved.
I hear a beep from my pocket as I get deeper into the forest.
EB: hey sol!
TA: hey John
TA: 2ure took you long enough two an2wer
EB: sorry Jake was giving me another lesson relentless this guy is
TA: it'2 fiine, you know when your fiir2t hunt ii2?
EB: no but I can ask hold on
EB: he said maybe tonight but he doesn't know
Oh shit I'm screwed so totally screwed
EB: wait he said that he was busy tonight so I'm not going out yet
Phew that's a relief
TA: aw that 2uck2 man
That is such a relief that he won't be out here while I'm hun- OOO A BIRD
I jump up running after the bird until I eventually catch it.
John's POV
EB: so about that kiss from earlier
EB: did it like mean something?
EB: or was it just a friendly goodbye kiss?
"Ugg Captor you kill me what are you doing" I groan, sometimes I don't know with that guy he's awful secretive sometimes and hard to get a hold of. Jake thinks there's something up with him but I always tell him he's crazy Sollux is just a normal guy.
bzzzzz FINALLY! I quickly pick up my phone checking the message
TA: 2orry ii had to deal wiith 2ome...2tuff
EB: it's okay! I understand
TA: thank2
TA: anyway2 yeah ju2t a friiendly peck on the cheek to 2ay good bye to my be2t bro
Oh....well then I I fell like I'm about to cry now being basically rejected
I always thought that maybe we could be something but obviously not.
Well fuck him and his stupid sexy face and dreamy blonde hair that looks so fluffy and soft to touch and his plump pink lips that are always hiding that perfect smile I've only gotten glances of...
