John's POV
"JOHN YOU READY TO GO?" Jake yells from in the kitchen.

"GO WHERE?" I question, I don't remember him saying anything about going out but if it will give me something to do other than scroll through my photos on my phone of Sollux and me and crying my eyes out over romance problems I'll have a go at it.

"Into the forest for your training" he suddenly appears in my doorway.

"I thought you had something to do?"

"I do your going out by yourself to check an alarm that went off 'bout fifteen minutes ago"

"What?! I can't go out by myself there are monsters out there!"

"Exactly I have to leave so you need to go check the trap and alarm so that thin doesn't get into town attacking people"

"Agh okay what do I have to do exactly" I ask groaning as he leads me down to the basement where we keep all our gear.

"Find it and kill it or at least wound and run it away"

"Okay, do you know what it is?"

"Sensors say it was mostly human in appearance so I'd say a rather new demon that didn't grow its wings to full size or a vampire" Jake puts a think leather vest over my shirt,"Either way it posses a risk of capture, death, or possible turning"

"Oh great" I roll my eyes as he straps a tool belt to my waist and look down to see what weapons he has given me.

A pistol and a stun gun should be easy enough get in find this monster kill it get out piece of cake.

"Ready to go now?"

"As ready as I'll ever be facing possible death" I sigh

"That's the spirit" he chuckles leading me back upstairs,"I won't be back until tomorrow afternoon so don't die or get bitten"

"Alright Jake" I give him a quick hug and set out walking towards the forest.

I reach into the little pocket of my belt and pull out a small slip of paper TRAP 16 EAST okay off I go yay death!

Okay trap 16 right in front of me it hadn't been set off but the alarm screen was red meaning it had been set off.

Now I just wait around to be attacked while I wonder aimlessly.

****-sponge bob narrator voice- one hour later****
I'm about to start walking home when I hear a rustling up in the leaves of the tree. The way the branches moved meant it was no squirrel but something much bigger, I sudden got terrified. I'm not ready for this, this thing could kill me what am I thinking.

"S-STOP" I shout taking my gun out and pointing it towards the now still figure,"I'M A HUNTER"

Suddenly the thing shifts and starts jumping tree branches at an unreal speed in the opposite direction.

I chase after trying to fire a shot at it and missing, the chase continues for a while until I hear something crack under my feet that isn't a twig. I bend down to pick it up and fell silent.
