"Hey Gale." I say as soon as I see his number on the screen. He laughs slightly.
"Hey Catnip."
"How are you and Clare  doing?" I ask, walking over and sitting on the couch.
"Great. I'm sorry she acted that way to you, she just doesn't like you cause she's afraid that you'll steal me from her. " Gale mutters into the phone, and he sounds slightly annoyed. I sigh.
"Tell her she has nothing to worry about. When do you leave District 12?"
"Tomorrow i leave at three. We could hang out then if you want to." Gale says. I nod my head.
"Okay. We can meet at Peeta's bakery. We could eat cupcakes and hang out for an hour before your train leaves." I say and I can practically see him smiling.
"So... tomorrow at 12?"
"Yeah. See you then."
"Bye Catnip."

Peeta walks me into the bakery. I think it's sweet that he decided to go into work late do that he could walk with me today, but I also have a feeling that there is another reason he waited.
I see Gale observing one of Peeta's masterpieces, and I walk over to him. When he sees  me, he gives me a tight hug, pulling me into his strong embrace. Over Gales shoulder, I see Peeta look slightly let down. I decide to ask him about it later.
"So Gale. Why don't you go get us a table and I'll get us.... two cupcakes?" I ask and he nods, making his way over to one of the tables back in the corner.
I turn around, and see Peeta standing there at the register.
"Two chocolate cupcakes please." I say and he rings the order up. I go to get my money out but he laughs, push the money back into the wallet.
"Katniss, you of all people don't need to pay. I make you food at home all of the time." He says and I grin.
"Okay." I watch him carefully take out two cupcakes and put them into separate bags. "Hey, why did you look so sad a minute ago?"
He looks up from the cupcakes. "Me? Sad? When?"
I raise my eyebrows at him. "Dont play dumb breadboy." I say. He sighs.
"I was just kind of upset that you we getting along so well with Gale. I was jealous, that's all." Peeta shrugs his shoulders. I smirk slightly.
"Peeta. I will love you, and only you, always." And then I smile pointing to my stomach. "Need I remind you that now we have something else tying us together?" I say, and he smiles down at my still normal looking stomach.
"We've only been together for a month and look at how far we've come. It's fantastic." He says.
"Its ridiculous. Were moving too fast. But, I can assure you, this will be a long couple of months." I say. He smiles, handing me my bag. I wave and turn around to join Gale.
I unload the two cupcakes, and we dig in. About half way through, Gale points at me.
"Well?" He says, his mouth  slightly full. I scrunch my eyebrows together.
"Well what?" I ask him, licking  the chocolate frosting off the top of the cupcake.
"Whats the news? I can tell that somehing is different." Gale says, and my eyes dart down to my still flat stomach. He follows my gaze down. Then something clicks in his brain, I can see it in his eyes.
"You're pregnant?" He whispers and I nod. "So.... did you lie to Clare? You know it would have been a whole lot easier if you would have just told her that you were pregnant as well." Gale says. I sigh, shaking my head.
"No. I just found out I was pregnant yesterday. And I doubt it would have been any better if I had told her. It's none of her business anyways and-" I start but he interrupts  me.
"Katniss. Calm down. It's fine. Your right it wasn't any of her buisness." Gale says, stopping me midway through my rant. I take a deep breath and then let it all out in one big rush.  Finish off my giant cupcake in one last bite.
We spend a while talking about things that are improtant, need to know things, as well as stupid, useless comments. At one point, we sit in silence, both lost in our own worlds.
Gales brown hair falls into his eyes as he looks over my shoulder. He smirks slightly.
"What?" I ask him. He shrugs his shoulders and looks back down at his hands.
"Nothing." He responds, but I raise my eyebrows skeptically. The way he avoids my gaze, I can tell that there's something he's finding hysterical that he knows I won't like.
"Gale." I say, and he looks up, smiling.
"Your boyfriends jealous of you spending time with me." And I don't crack a smile at all. I turn to find Peeta as normal as ever and I scrunch my eyebrows together.
"What are you talking about? He looks fine!" I say as I turn back around, but Gale shakes his head.
"No. He was glaring at me." Gale says and I shake my head, finding it hard to believe. I told Peeta that I love him and only him, and would forever. And he seemed perfectly fine. I shake my head, trying to clear that whole conversation  from my head.
Peeta comes over just then, and my head snaps up, a new smile upon it. He looks down happily at me, and I grin. He sets down two iced teas. Gale squints his eyes at the drinks, and then looks up at Peeta, a slight scowl on his face.
"We didn't order tea." Gale says, sounding horribly rude. I smack Gale on the arm angrily, but Peeta seems unfazed.
"I know that Katniss likes iced tea after eating something chocolatey. You don't have to drink yours if you dont want to, I was just being nice." Peeta shrugs his broad shoulders, and puts a hand on my shoulder.
"So, Gale. How are you and Clare doing?" Peeta asks, and Gale pinches his lips together before answering
"Good. We got married about a month ago. It was a quiet little wedding you know, that's why you guys werent invited." Gale looks down at me. "There are also other reasons I didn't want the two of you there that we don't need to name. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about." Gale glares slightly up at Peeta, and I feel Peetas grip on my shoulder tighten. I know that Gale has crossed a line now.
"Well, Gale, it's been nice catching up wih you, but you're wife must be waiting for you." Peeta says, pushing him slightly towards the door. "Door's this way, thanks for stopping by. See you soon. Adios. Catch you later!" And with one final shove and the slam of the glass door, Gale is gone. Peeta turns away from the glass doors and looks at me apologetically.
"Sorry about that. I know you were trying to spend some time with him before he left." Peeta says but I shake my head.
"Nah its fine. He was starting to get on my nerves anyway." I look up at the clock, and it reads 3:18pm. Gale is going to be late for his train. Peeta's shop closes at 6, and I dont have much to do until then.
"Do you mind  if I stay and help you?" I ask him, and he looks up from wiping down our table. Blue eyes meet grey, and my heart melts again at the love in his gaze, and I imagine the same coming from mine. "I dont have much to do..."
"Of course you can stay Katniss. But you're gonna be put to work, I can tell you that." He says and I laugh. He leads the way back into the baking room which smells strongly of cinnamon and sugar. Tom and Lacie, Peeta's workers, stand at the table in the middle, kneeding  the dough.
"Tom, Lacie, I want you guys to go work out front for now, Katniss and I got kitchen duty for a while." Peeta says. Tom and Lacie leave the room, and Tom gives me a fist bump before leaving. I laugh slightly to myself, and walk over to the counter with Peeta.
"So,breadboy, what do we do first?" I ask him, and he shuffles his feet slightly, so that our arms  are pressed together. Butterflies leap in my stomach at his touch, and I feel like I should be over it by now, but I'm not. I don't think I ever will be.
"Well, first we are going to make three batches of cinnamon rolls and two batches of chocolate cupcakes. They're selling like mad today." He says and gets out all of the ingredients. I watch his strong hands as they work. He uses the premade dough that Lacie and Tom had been working on.
"Can you get me some more flour, Kat?" He asks me. I nod my head, moving over to the bag of flour. I take a small pinch and move to Peeta's side.
"Peeta. Look at me." I say and he turns his head. Then I throw the small pinch of flour right into his face. He presses his eyes together, and a smile grows on his face.
"Oh, so we're gonna play it that way, are we?" He says, and dips his fingers into the bowl of chocolate frosting. He wipes three long smears of frosting down my face, and I open my mouth in shock.
I do the same, but with bigger and thicker stripes down his face.
Then I sprinkle some large sphere like sprinkles into my hands.
"Stay very still." I whisper softly into his ear, and he freezes. Then I lightly smash the handful of sprinkles onto his face. Most of them stick, but a few fall to the floor.
The bakery door opens and peeta and I turn to find Tom standing there. His face twists into a mixture of amusement and confusion. He shrugs his shoulders, a smile on his face.
"There's a woman out here, she wants a special order." Tom says and Peeta nods, rushing out of the baking room. I follow, ready to watch the woman's expression when she sees Peeta.
"Hello ma'am." Peeta says, and the woman raises her eyebrows at the mess smeared onto Peeta's face. He chooses to ignore both her expression and his face. "I can write your order down right now."  I struggle to hold in my laughter as she takes in the mess of flour, frosting, and sprinkles.
"Um.... yes. I would like a large cake, blue icing. And could it spell the words "Happy Birthday Carla", flower themed please." She says.
"All right. I'll have that ready for you tomorrow at about 4. Thank you." Peeta says and she nods. She turns around, but just before she leaves, she looks back at him.
"Oh and sir?" She asks. Peeta looks up at her.
"Yes?" He asks politely.
"You have a little something on your face." She responds before exiting the shop with a clang.
