I knock on the door to yet another mansion and the greeter opens it and...well...greets us in. I immediately feel out of place seeing everybody dressed in Tuxedo's and dresses. "Oh my god what did I get myself into." I mumble to myself.
Lucas leans in and whispers, "So who's party is this? I wasn't expecting it be so...classy."
"What did you expect? There to be beer and vodka with beer pong and flip cup for you to get hammered on. I don't know if you noticed but I'm not about that life." I whisper back to him even though I wasn't expecting it to be this classy either.
"Gina!" Liam comes towards me. "I'm so glad you could make it!"
"Liam?" Lucas's voice startles me as I get out of my daze of staring at Liam in a tux.
"Lucas?" Liam questions.
"Wait. You two know each other?" Great, this is just great.
"Yeah we go to the same school. How did you get here?" Liam questions Lucas.
"I came with Gina."
They both turn towards me.
Awkward silence engulfs me. "Okay I'm confused." I finally say. "You two go to the same school and know each other. Are you friends?"
"Well Lucas is a bit hard to be friends with, but yeah." Liam playfully punches Lucas's arm.
I rub my head in disbelief, only I would be caught in this situation. "Well that's great!" I put on my best smile. "It's a small world."
"Can I talk to you for a second." Lucas asks and pulls be to the side and I watch Liam saunter off. "He's the one that invited you?"
"Yeah"
"You can't date him!" He blurts out.
"Excuse me?"
"I mean he's my best friend. Seriously. And I've told him a lot about you, no, I did not use your name, but if he finds out that it was you that I was talking about..."
"What? He'll find out his best friend has a crush on his girlfriend? I know." I try to look past the fact that Lucas was talking about me. "I don't like you, Lucas. And if you can't handle that then I don't know what to tell you about that. But I can date whoever I want, whether its' Liam or anybody else in this world." I walk away to go find Liam which was easy.
"Hey" He smiles a dazzling white smile. "Oh, let me introduce you to someone." He puts his hand on my back and gently guides me through the maze of people until in feet away from McClain Ward. "McClain, this is Gina."
I'm frozen. I can't move. I'm about to talk to one on the most famous riders in history of riders. "Hi" I stutter out the word. But Then snap out of it, "I'm sorry I'm just- I never- hi" ...Okay, maybe I didn't snap out of it fully.
McClain laughs, "Hi Gina, I've heard all about you."
"You have?"
"Yes. You are a pretty famous young rider. Not only with your book but with your actual riding."
Did he just compliment my riding? I might cry... or faint... or scream. "Thank you!" I finally stutter out.
We talk for a while longer and by the end I couldn't get rid of my smile.
"That went well" Liam says.
"Yeah" I nod, wondering if that really happened. "Oh! I should really be thanking you! You're the one who invited me here and made that possible!"
He chuckles, "It's no big deal. In fact you might be doing me a favor by actually getting me out of my room for social events."
"Well you don't seem too shy anymore. So I think I've done my job."
