I could tell I haven't been asleep long when I wake up to them talking. "I just still can't understand why." I hear Liam talking beside me. "What would even make you want to try it?"

There was no talking for a while, the only noise was Lucas's occasional heavy breathing and him moving around the bed. But finally he spoke, "I was at a party too drunk to know what I was doing."

I feel Liam shake his head, "But why didn't you just stop after that?"

"I don't know. It wasn't until..." He trails off.

"... she showed up" Liam fills it in for him.

My mind spirals, did he try to quit...for me? I shake it off and eavesdrop for more. I knew I shouldn't be but I had to find out.

"Yeah" Lucas says quietly. "I don't love her anymore." He says after a second. "I've tried but I've messed up too many times."

"I shouldn't have asked her out." Liam says quieter than he's been talking, making sure I couldn't hear him. But I did. "I'm sorry, bro. But I had to."

A slight smile forms on my face.

"I get it. She obviously likes you more." an airy laugh comes from him.

"I doubt that. Look at her, she's not going to leave your side even if I carry her out of here."

"That's just her. She cares for everyone. She may play it off like she's tough, which she is, but she cares for everyone no matter what." He goes silent and I'm left to think of him in awe. "So I just wanted a chance to be friends with her." He continues. "But I'm afraid I just pushed her away more..."

"Don't worry" I tiredly say as my eyes slowly open. I stretch and say, "I'm not going anywhere." I smile.

They were both shocked that I heard all that but I can tell they're not exactly sure that I heard everything. I changed the subject, "So, how are you feeling?"

"Like shit." He laughs and then moves in pain. He's covered in sweat and now has his shirt off. I look away to Liam to tell him to get some sleep but he was one step ahead of me. He passed out with his head tilted backwards and his arms outstretched.

"Okay then" I mumble, laughing.

Lucas shifts and groans in agony, I could only imagine the pain that's going through his entire body right now. I decide to google the side affects of coming off morphine and am going to be expecting the worst because, well, it's google. But it's better than my little knowledge that my mom gave me and Elliot coming off Morphine in Mr. Robot, a show I used to watch with Justin. Now that I think about it, it's surprisingly the same right now...

"W-what are you doing?" Lucas stumbles to find his words. I look up and he's tremoring.

"Looking up what's going to happen next." I simply say. As I read through the list Lucas says yes or no to what he's feeling. Suddenly his hand flies up to his mouth and his eyes bug out of his head. I run and grab a garbage can out of the bathroom, almost throwing it to him to get it to him in time.

I sit next to him and rub his back a he endlessly threw up into the garbage can. I felt awkward but it was the least I could do. After what had to be five minutes he finally stops, breathing heavy and sweating more than ever I take the garbage can and place it on the floor. I have a feeling he's going to be needing that again.

"Please give it to me" he begs. "I'll stop right after but please just give it to me this one time." he pleads and for a split second, I actually thought about it. He looks and feels like shit. I know the pain he's going through and it's not fun. But no, he can't have it.
