"you've barley touched your food," luke says to the boy who is currently sitting across from him in the booth they were seated at.

michael is partially in his own little world as he stared off at nothing. he did that a lot, zoning out. he had a lot on his mind at that moment of just about anything and everything, "i guess i'm not that hungry," he replies, his eyes staying focused where they were.

luke pursed his lips together and wondered to himself what could be on michael's mind, but couldn't work up enough courage to ask, "are you feeling okay?"

"i don't really know what i'm feeling," michael knew that may not make much sense to luke, but he was only being honest.

michael was different from anyone else his age, at least to luke he was. it might have been one of the things that attracted the older man the most. he wasn't ordinary, he had a different outlook on life than most teenagers did. luke admired him so damn much.

"it's okay to not know how you're feeling," luke assured. the words caught michael's attention at last, "i'm sure a lot of people don't know."

"yeah," michael briefly replied in a non-amused kind of way, his voice lacking any emotion and his lips just barley moving when he spoke. anyone could tell he wasn't mentally here right now. he had something much bigger on his mind that was causing him to be distant.

it was silent between the two for a good while. luke finished his food while michael continued to stare at his own. the blonde bit his tongue harshly as he ever so badly wanted to know what was wrong and just as he was on the verge of asking, his mind told him it was a bad idea since luke was his teacher after all and he didn't know if michael was comfortable with sharing his feelings. luke was never one to speak up when he wanted to.

"i'm going to go get the che-" luke was cut short by michael who began talking, not ever so slightly realizing his teacher was was ready to get out of his side of the booth.

"i'm sorry," michael, out of the blue, said. luke gives him a quizzed look, his eyebrows knitting together and a wrinkle forming right at the tip top of his nose. michael explains, "i haven't really been great company. it's just — i don't know."

luke quickly shook his head, "you have been great company. i know you're a bit down right now. you don't have to apologize."

michael stares at luke, like, really stares at luke. he's never met someone so considerate and kind. he tries to take all of his teachers features in. all the way from his curved nose to a mole on his cheek. the blonde truly had an undeniable beauty that michael had never taken the time to notice before. seeing more and more of his teacher out of the class room caused the younger lad to look at luke a tad bit differently.

"this may sound a bit to forward, me being your teacher and all, but if you ever need someone to talk to i'm always here to listen," luke has a sincere smile on his face.

even though michael never liked to talk about what was on his mind and how he felt, he still appreciated luke's words more than anyone ever would, "thank you."

"how about we get out of here, yeah? i'll take you home."

"okay," michael agreed, but if he was being honest, he really didn't want to go home now.
