michael's late. he wakes up later than he anticipated to. he lets out a whining sound, wishing he could stay in bed for the day curled up in a ball, but he knows his mum would become furious if he were to ditch school. she wasn't one to allow that from her son.

he gets ready quickly, already knowing he was going to be late, but didn't want to be to late. he throws on a random outfit that he finds before hurrying down the stairs and into the kitchen where his mum was.

"I thought you were going to be at work," michael says, grabbing his bag that hung on one of the chairs surrounding the island in the middle of the kitchen.

"I took the day off," she says, smiling, "eliot and I have to go figure a few things out for the wedding."

michael cringes at the work wedding. he wants his mum to be happy, of course. thinking of his mum with someone other than his own dad made his stomach churn. it's been a quite some time since his father has been gone, but it didn't change how he felt, especially hardly knowing his moms fiancé.

"maybe you two can have a guys night soon. you can get to know him a bit more. i wanted you to meet him sooner, but everything happened so quickly, mike. i think you will really like him," she has a small gleam of hope in her eyes, michael can tell.

"i'll have to think about it," he replies. he wasn't sure if he was ready for a guys night. his mum just dropped the huge bomb on him not so long ago. he was still digesting the whole situation.

michael's eyes follow his mum's actions of her pouring her routine cup of coffee with sugar and cream. the familiar aroma of fresh coffee fills the room. she takes a small sip before talking, "there's no rush. i brought all of this on you quickly."

"i'm going to get going," michael says before his mum has time to say anything else. he didn't want to talk about this anymore, "i'm already late enough."

"have a good day."

michael flashes a quick smile before leaving. the cold air struck his skin abruptly once opening his front door. he was thankful for only living a few blocks away from the school building.

the whole school day, michael seemed to be in a funk. he couldn't seem to stop thinking about everything that is going on in his home life. as much as he didn't want to think about it, he couldn't help it. he tried focusing on the the teachers lessons or the worksheets he was given to do, but his mind wouldn't let his thoughts wonder away from his mum and how she was getting married to a guy she has only known for a few months and has only just introduced him to michael and now he was going have to see the guy more all while trying to be friendly.

but at last, it's the last class of the day which just so happens to be luke's class. no matter how big of a funk michael was in, it wasn't anything that couldn't be solved by just seeing and hearing his voice and oh how he loved being able to listen to his voice the entire class. so sweet and pure and appealing.

"hey there good looking," michael says, a hardly noticeable smirk on his lips. everyone else has left the room with the class ending and michael couldn't have been more relieved that the day was over.

"hey there," luke chuckles a bit as he sets down the eraser he was using to erase the white board, "what's got you in a good mood?"

michael shrugs as a carelessly throws his bag onto luke's desk, "you."

luke raises his eyebrows with a gasp escaping his mouth. he puts his hand on his chest, "i am flattered."

"you should be," michael jokes.

it was impossibly hard not to touch luke in any type of form right now. a hug, a kiss, holding his hand. it was taking everything he has not to just simply lean into the mans arms who was standing a foot away from him. it was to risky. anything they did was risky.

"got any plans today?" luke questions as he begins organizing everything he has on his desk into neat piles. he cursed himself for being so unorganized.

michael leans himself back onto one of the student desk, his arms crossing over each other, "only if they involve being with you."

"that's what i was hoping to here."
