Chapter 5 - BBQ

ETHANS POV:

Basically I had liked Cara since the day I threw sand on her in kindergarten, and having to keep it a secret for almost 5 years was absolute torture but I knew that it was the right thing to hide it from her. I had just recently gotten over my crush but I still cared about Cara more than anyone else.

My heart shattered a little when she told me she had kissed Jakob as I had always hoped that would be me but this wasn't about me this was about making sure Cara was happy and treated right.

I could tell she was unsure of the what would happen as she started to look afraid and scared, I pulled her in close to tell her it was going to be ok. She hugged me back tightly and she whispered in my ear "Thank you Ethan."

Once we let go of each other, Cara reached for the cake tray and put it in oven setting an alarm as we then began to make our way upstairs to get ready.

Mum had dropped off clothes earlier this morning as she had a meeting that would run late tonight so I was getting ready at Caras house. As we entered her room I grabbed the towels that were on her bed and hung one in Caras bathroom before grabbing the other one to put in the guest bathroom.

Once Cara was done I jumped into the shower before getting changed into some skinny black jeans that were still a bit loose on my legs and a long white sleeve t-shirt with black writing in printed on the front. I quickly did my hair before picking up my wet bathers in the towel and exited to find Cara waiting outside the door all done up as her hair was blow dried straight and she was wearing some black skinny jeans and a white flowy top with embroidery all down the sides .I noticed she was wearing a little more makeup then usual but not too much that made her look completely fake.

She looked amazing.

CARAS POV:

As Ethan made his way out of the bathroom, I could see his eyes make his way from my head to my feet.

"Do I look ok?" I ask Ethan nervously as I clutched my hand tight waiting for his reply.

"You look stunning Cara. You always do" Ethan replied "Jakob will think so too" he quickly mumbled as I could hear the oven beep from a distance.

We made our way downstairs, the rich chocolate scent filling the air as Ethan opened the oven to find the cake surprisingly not burnt this time. We laughed and goofed around a bit before dad called me and Ethan outside to set the table and help to cook the steak and sausages on the barbecue.

Not too long after I heard a faint knock at the door as mum went out to welcome someone in. Chris then ran around the corner begging to help cook dinner with dad and Ethan.

"Hi Chris! wait wheres Jakob?" I ask Chris casually whilst setting up the last plate.

"Oh we dropped him after yours, he should be here soon." Chris replied with a smile on his face.

I smiled back at Chris and nodded as mum handed me the salad to place on the table. Shortly after Jakob and Mikaila emerged from the house as they made their way to the barbecue, with Ethan and Jakobs parents following close behind.

Our parents sat on one table and as for the rest of us we decided to just go sit on the grass as we had probably heard enough adult talk to last us a life time.

After we had finished Mikaila and Tahlia (Ethans younger sister) made their way to the out house as Ethan and Chris decided to go play soccer. As I watched in silence a heard a faint whisper in my ear, "Come inside", I turned around to find Jakob staring back at me as he held is hand out. I jumped up and we soon made our way inside to my room upstairs. As I laid down quietly near the end of my bed, I could feel the cold bed sheets brush up against my arm but as Jakob laid down next to me a shiver of warmth filled my body. As I laid still I could feel Jakob move slowly as he brought himself to a position almost on top of me. He leaned his head down closer to mine as he began kissing up and down my neck slowly yet softly. My hand now grabbing his face as I began to run my fingers through his hair. As my legs wrap around Jakob's waist a figure slowly emerged at my door, It was Chris.
