CARA'S POV;
The music was so loud I could barely hear myself think.
As I walked further in, I noticed the floor vibrating beneath my feet, the bass causing my chest to rise and fall much faster while the smell of alcohol filled the room.
As I noticed this, a red cup is handed to me by a tall boy, the substance a cloudy white and the smell of it was absolutely horrific.
Making my way further into the party, I search for anyone I relatively know as anything would be better than walking around a party aimlessly all alone.
Just like he was on cue, Ethan comes into sight up ahead and I continue to walk to him but my walk is cut short when Lachie jumps in front of me, blocking Ethan."Cara, Cara, Cara", he says slowly as he plays with my hair.
"What do you want Lachie?", I say sternly as I try to push away.
"Just wanted to see if you were ok?"
"Lachie I have been to parties before, I can handle myself."
"Cara I'm genuinely asking you know with your mum and all"
"Oh. How do you know?", I say more softly making sure no one could hear our conversation.
"You don't need to whisper cara everyone knows"
"Yea right"
"Cara seriously ask anyone, no one even thought you were going to turn up."
"Who told you?"
"Word travels fast"
"and why should I believe you, just tell me who told you?"
"Just look around Cara, everyone knows for themselves and would've found out eventually the rest you don't need to know"
As I began to look around my heart began quickening and I felt like everyone was beginning to stare at me.
As I looked over Lachie's shoulder I couldn't see Ethan anymore, causing me to panic even more.
I can't believe everyone knows, not just Ethan, Chris and Jakob but everyone. My fists clench at the thought as I look down to the cold drink in my hand and contemplate whether I should risk it but Lachie stops me as I began to bring the cup to my lips."Connor give you that?", He asks.
"I didn't see the person who gave if to me, all I saw was their back. They were tall, had light brown hair and I think I saw them wearing a grey shirt."
"Yep, defiantly Connor. Come here, let's go get you another one"
"What's so wrong with the one I've got?"
"Look, Cara just don't take drinks from anyone ok?"
"Ok. But why should I listen to you?"
"Just do.", he replied bluntly before pulling me over to the drinks on the counter.
"Anything hear look good to you?", Lachie asked as my eyes scanned the drink labels.
Most of them were just plain vodka or vodka cruisers so really I didn't have much of a choice.
I decided to grab a vodka cruiser, clenching it in my small hand as I did so."I will just have this", I said whilst popping off the top.
"Alright well I'll be around if you need me you know for whatever you want to do", he smirks before seeing the disgusted look on my face. "Or if you need anything."
"Uh thanks", I let out slowly as he walked away.
A few girls then passed me giggling, speaking just loud enough that I could hear them.
"Yeah her mum's dead and her dad's just left them so now she's living off-"
The girls voices are then cut off as a few more girls rush up to me.
"Um hey Cara", One of them says, clenching my shoulder. "I know your mums dead and all but now are you an alcoholic or something?", she continues, looking down to the cruiser in my hand.
"No, it's not mine", I lie and leave it on the floor by my feet. "And for the record my mums not dead.""She might as well be", they all laugh, a tear now forming in my eye causing my vision to go blurry. "Anyways have fun at the funeral.",
The tears were now flowing in as I tried to hold myself together before reaching a quite place.
I let my feet carry me up the stairs and I quickly scan the room for anyone before sitting myself on the floor, resting my back on the end of the bed. My tears came streaming down as I leaned my head on my knees, occasionally rocking back and forth.
As I did so I heard a click of the door and before I knew it, someone was entering.
I quickly wiped my face and sat up straight. The person was calling out something as they pushed open the door. Their shoe then took a step in before their whole body appeared. Ethan.
As he rushed over to me I had a little de ja vu as this was awfully like the time Ethan found me at the hospital."There you are", he said whilst running over to me. "Someone told me they saw you crying and walk up here. What's the matter?"
"They know.", Is all I manage to get out.
"Who know's what Cara?"
My tears were building up faster and faster as I went on, "Everybody knows about m-mum", I stuttered.
"I'm sure they don't"
"Ethan they do!", I say a little louder over my own tears.
"Who cares?"
"I do."
"Well you shouldn't. Besides I'm here and I understand everything you're going through."
"But Ethan... you don't, you're not Jakob"
"You're right I'm not but I'm Ethan and I want you to be happy", He paused for a moment as he grabbed my hand. "I'll be back."
He the disappeared out the door, this causing my brain to spin and go fuzzy. Where was he going?
He then came back a short while after with someone following close behind him.
"Cara?", the voice said from behind Ethan, their voice full of concern. "are you ok?"
