I sit, surrounded by kittens with Luke by my side, and realise this I what happiness is.

One of them yawns in my lap and I can't help but let out a little giggle as I bop his or hers small pink nose.

Beside me, I feel Luke's eyes studying me and then soon me enough he bops my nose, too.

I let out another giggle.

I shake my head when I watch him stare at me as I try to get rid of the pink from my cheeks.

"I-Ijustlovecatssom-much," I gush, only stuttering a few times as I pick up this white kitten and hold it in the air, watching as its little legs wriggling and I laugh.

"I know you do," Luke says. "That's why I brought you here," he smiles and I grin back.

"t-thank you, l-Luke, h-how do even k-know this p-place?" I ask, placing the cute kitty in my lap again and stroking his head.

"I used to come here when I was sad," he explains, running a hand through his hair and I watch as he smiles as a small, black kitten climbs into his lap.

"Well, n-now you c-can c-come to m-m-me when your s-sad," I smile, and he snaos his head up at me, smiling.

He crawls over to me and pulls me into him.

I happily lean into him as the kittens climb all over us.

"I'm sorry about today," he whispers, and I just shake my head, nuzzling it into his chest as I stroke the head of one of the furballs in my lap, with just one finger seeing as they're so small.

"i-it's in the p-past," I say, and I close my eyes as he strokes my hair lightly.

"Yeah but it still happened Michael. I said something horrible and it hurt you and I was so scared I wouldn't get you back, I was wrong; you don't need to protect yourself because I will always be there, and your flower crowns do protect you, somehow they do and they're pretty and you love them and I love them and I love you okay," he rambles and rambles and I cant catch my breath when he says the last four words. My heart stops.

His heart stops.

And neither of us know what to do.

"Shit, sorry- I uhhh... well,, shit.." he looks away and I can see the redness in his cheeks.

"I-i-it's o-okay," I mumble shakily, breathless as I struggle to believe what I'm saying.

"Yeah an- wait what?" he asks, turning to me in shock, and I smile sheepishly.

"I d-don't know, u-uh, I-I-I'm okay with i-it," I say, shrugging as I pull my sweater further onto my palms.

"You are?" he smiles. I just nod.

I am. I so am, and he said he loves me. loves me. Maybe he means it in a friendly way, but maybe he means it in the way I hope he does.

I guess time only time will tell.

"L-Lukkeee!" I whine, throwing my arms down by my side again as I stumble through the leaves, mud layering on my grey chucks.

Above me, trees tower and around me the air is icy and cold. I pull my purple jumper down and pull it around me tightly, shivering with the cold as it wraps its wispy, harsh fingers around my whole body.

The roots, trying to trip me up, push out from the mud.

"Michaaaeeellll," he says back, in a mocking tone. I roll my eyes at him.

"w-what are w-we doing, t-this is the s-s-second place y-you're t-taking me b-by surprise!" I try to sound serious and annoyed, but I end up giggling.

He slows his pace and falls into rhythm with me, before grabbing my hand.

"We're walking," he smiles. I smile too, but only after rolling my eyes.

"To s-see w-what?" I asks, refraining Goosebumps as he traces his finger on the inside of my palm.

A funny feeling tingles at the bottom of my stomach.

"To see what we can find," he winks at me and I swear I die.

I can't even stutter out and okay.

We walk for at least an hour; we walk in silence with only the sound of the crunching leaves and our light inhales and exhales of breath, as the birds chirps around us in the wide, green forest.

It looks beautiful; it really does, almost as beautiful as the boy next to me. The leaves are completely above us, and the light is shining though creating a beautiful glow to the forest area.

But, soon enough, like Luke said, we find something.

"Look!" he suddenly yells, and I jump. He laughs. "Sorry," he breathes.

I shrug it off, but I soon follow his finger and a grin blooms on my face straight away.

The tree house is old and beaten down, but it still looks stable and cool; it's halfway up quite a small tree and accessible given a boost, but luckily there's a ladder buried under some leaves, and we pull it out and place it against the wooden house.

"Come on!" Luke pulls at my hand and begins to run, making sure to be slow enough for me though. I smile at his considerateness.

Soon enough, Luke is climbing up the ladder, and I can't help but look at his butt.

It's a cute butt, I must say.

When he's reached the top, he has to duck under the arch which is mean to be a door, before turning around and offering me his hand. I begin to shakily climb up the ladder, and I then take his hand, and he pulls me through too.

Breathless, I finally sit down harshly, on the pine covered flooring of the tree house.

I stay holding his hand, and we sit and huff in silence.

"it's s-so p-pretty," I say, smiling as I look at the sun fanning through the gaps of the wood, and the leaves falling down one by one and as the sun begins to set in the distance.

"mhmm," he hums. "Like you, mikey,"

I stop as his he puts one hand on the side of my face and moves me to look at him, our eyes locking for what seems to be forever.

He inches forward. Only a little. And then so do I.

It's infinity before his lips touch mine. Only briefly, like the bat of an eyelash and the flap of a butterfly wings.

But that's all it takes.

That's all it takes before he grabs both of my cheeks and crashes my lips into his.
