"Luke!" I jump out of my skin, and snap my head up, to see Calum and the rest of the team looking at me, I furrow my eyebrows. "We said, Aaron is ill and we need you to play up front,"
"Oh," I stop and I blink. "Yeah. Sure, that's fine,"
Everyone stares at me, but soon enough Calum instructs everyone to 'get out there' after giving us a motivational pep talk. When I get up to leave, anxiety filling my stomach for the on coming game, Calum grabs my arm.
"Hey, what's up dude? You're acting distant and weird," he says, and I just bight my lip ring and shrug.
"I'm just tired," I say, sighing.
"You alright to play the game?" I hesitate before nodding.
"I think so," I stop and before we reach the pitch he orders me to tell him what's really up. "I... just- mum kicked me out the house and I'm staying at Michael's right now, I'm just stressed and school's difficult,"
He stares at me for a long time, sadly. But then I tell him not to worry about it and people are chanting us to come on, so he just cracks a smile and ruffles my messy blond hair.
When we walk onto the green pitch, my heart thuds and my anxiety continues to increase, but I can smell the crisp, spring air, and with the people shouting on the bleachers and the smell of hot dogs in atmosphere.
Soon enough I spot Michael in the crowd, and I smile when I see Harry, a kind brown, curly haired boy, standing with him.
Louis, my fellow team mate and class mate walks over by my side and grins. He waves at Harry and Harry blows him a kiss. Michael and I just smile shyly at each other.
"Both our Boyfriends are friends." He says softly, before stopping, and he smiles right at me. "So cute."
I nod my head but keep my mouth shut.
Soon enough we're told to get in position and the whistle blows and we start.
I run up pitch, and call for the ball from Louis, who plays up front with me too, and he passes it. When I go to shoot the goalie catches it and I let out a sigh.
I never miss.
"What's up with you?" Noah asks, and I send him a glare.
"Nothing, I just missed, sorry," he scoffs and walks away, leaving me feeling like shit.
The match continues to go on, and Louis, the best player on the team along Calum, misses a goal too; meanwhile the other team is beating us by one goal. When it's coming towards the end of the match, the sweat is dripping off us, and I have to push my fringe off my sticky forehead. I grimace at how damp and sticky I feel.
Soon enough it's down to the last few minutes, and you can literally feel the tension in the air.
The opposing team has some really big built defence and I have to shoulder budge them quite hard with my lanky self to get through, and I almost do, but he sticks his leg out and trips me up.
I fall straight forward onto my ribs and let out a groan, luckily, coach sees it, and we get offered a free kick.
The defender throws me a dirty look and I throw one back.
