Chapter 8

"IS HE A Chinese?" I looked at the image on Stephanie's phone. She said that it was her boyfriend.

"No, Korean." She replied, her one eyebrow was raised.

"Sorry, just that I can't distinguish Koreans from Chinese and Japanese."

"It's ok, many people can't. You need to have sixth sense to be able to." Yvonne arrived here together with Stephanie and Krishna just as after I finished my breakfast. They fetched Lance before they settled at our living room.

"Would you mind if I ask why you are all here?" I said as I took a long sip of the creamy Starbucks coffee they brought. Luckily, I just had water earlier.

"Let's say a post-Christmas celebration." Krishna chimed in.

"And what do we do?"

"Drink? Movie time? Pizza party? It's up to you."

"I'd bet on Movie time, but can we come along with pizza party?"

"Sure. I'll buy Mozzarella and Pepperoni Pizza" Yvonne offered.

"I'll buy drinks. Plus I got projector here." Lance said, proud that he was prepared for movie time.

"I will think of what I can offer." Krishna stared at the ceiling as if she was answering an exam paper.

"I pay the electric bill." Mom broke in, everybody laughed.

"I can offer only my presence." I say. Everybody looks at me like I said something rude. At the first place, didn't they come for that?

"Who said we need your presence?" Yvonne grimaced.

"K," I backed out and headed to my room, trying to display a pathetic posture and face, though I knew she was just joking.

Silence. No one talked.

I closed the door behind me and acted like I got upset. I heard Krishna asked "What's wrong with him?" but no one answered her. Mom was there too, smiling. I didn't know if she got it or I fooled her too.

It took minutes before someone knocked on my door.

Yvonne tossed herself in my bed, her back landing on my stomach. It hurt. "Sorry, I don't mean it. I'm just kinda joking and you take it seriously like the fuck is wrong with you?"

I put my tongue out and stuck it close to her.

"Eeew, gross." We laughed and I tickled her at her sides. We were never this close before, like in a bed then tickling. There were only few people in this world like Yvonne who would annoy you, yet it would still appear cute and caring... at some point.

The door opened again and it's Lance and the Girls.

"But you can offer us your room for space." Lance suggested, smiling as he watched Yvonne and me.

"Sure, sure." I said, "I offer my room space."

Krishna called for pizza delivery while I set the projector.

When I was done setting it, I lie to bed next to lance. "Chivalry is dead. Cool boys lie on bed while girls sit on floor." Stephanie teased.

"Let them. They look sweet." Krishna said, mocking. I threw her a warning look. Lance chuckled, but he was focused with what we were watching.
