Chapter 21
WITH THE PERMISSION of the landlady, I moved to live together with Greg in his apartment.
"What if you move your bed a little closer to the window so I can place my bed right beside it and it will look like one?" I stood by the door, hands on waist. I thought I just had to let Greg do all the transferring and stuff since he got strong arms.
"Yes, sir." He passed through me and to the living room where my mattress was and back to the room again, "Excuse me, sir. You don't want your gigantic bed to smash you, do you?"
"No, thank you for your concern." I stepped aside, giggling and followed him in as he laid down the mattress on the bed frame. "I will do the cleaning and design once you're done, OK? But now I will leave you here and Imma prepare foods." I glided my hand around his waist as I passed him. I stopped at his side and left him a kiss on his cheek which tasted a little salty because of the sweat.
Cooking was not something I excelled, but it was something I enjoyed doing. And when I was done with my sweet style spaghetti I called out for Greg to join me.
Living together with Greg or with someone else was not one of those circumstances I imagined would happen as early as now. But being in this place where I was right now, I couldn't pull my mind out of thinking for our relationship. I believed Greg and I had already established a strong connection and whatever intimacy we shared now was something I truly cherished. All things about Greg were supposed only to be part of my college life but I never expected it that it would now be part of my whole character—of my whole life. The first time I saw him, I knew that I liked him as my crush, but never had I fantasized of him being my boyfriend. It just came all out of sudden like great things riding a photon and flashing as light. This was how things seemed to me. It happened all of the sudden, out of my expectation.
"You overcooked the pasta, but overall, it's good." Greg cleaned his mouth with a napkin and started walking back to the bedroom, "I'm gonna rest for a while. Make sure you follow me here."
"No, not yet." I protested, "I'm going to replace the bed sheet and dust-off your room. It's damn messy."
After quickly doing the dishes, I went to the bedroom to fix everything and covering our bed with a deep brown bed sheet and a pale green pillowcase.
Greg's clothes were scattered everywhere mixing together with school papers and books. My head was aching by just looking at it. How was I supposed to start cleaning this?
After fifteen minutes of catastrophic cleaning, finally I was done with all his stuff. Now it's time for me to maybe put some designs around just as what I did to my room. I used the stack of empty picture frames that Greg had and put our pictures there.
When Greg walked inside the room and saw the frames carefully hanged on the walls, he hushed with a big O-mouthed face. "So you have those pictures huh? I didn't know you are getting it printed. That's awesome." Then he flung himself beside me on the bed and he showered me with kisses.
"Oh, enough." I pushed him from my top to my side.
He lied on his back, following his breaths as he stared blankly at the ceiling. Not a moment before he muttered, "I love you."
I drew a crooked smile and turned my head to face him "I know it and I love you, too." I closed the distance between us and gave him a burning kiss.
I woke up by the sound of my ringing phone. I looked at the screen for identification, but it showed only numbers.
"Hello?" I asked, my voice was cracking from sleep.
