Chapter 10
YVONNE SQUINTED AS I walked closer to her at their dining room. Mrs. Robinsons was not around so I guessed she was still in her bed.
"Happy New Year, you had fun last night?"
"Definitely," She said "And I assume that you, too, had fun."
"Not really. This is the most boring New Year I ever had." I said, sitting down across her.
"Lance was alone in their house. He didn't invite you?"
"We talked for an hour."
"Is it really just that? You guys did not, you know, make out?"
I shot her a sharp glare "Gosh, you think all people want to make out during New Year's Eve? I'm not like you and Jerome. You're disgusting."
"I knew it! It was you who shouted behind the door last night. Thought I was hallucinating of you." Yvonne said, taking a long sip of coffee. "Anyway, you ate your breakfast already?"
"Yes."
"Dad's coming home later. We'll fetch him in the airport."
"Your mom's still sleeping, though."
"You think? Oh, girl. She's at the salon." Yvonne said rolling her eyes and laughing.
"Ooops. I thought she is still sleeping."
There's a pause for few minutes. My eyes were just lingering around while Yvonne was finishing her breakfast. The silence was getting awkward and I could feel Yvonne's eyes on me so I glanced quickly on her. And then we laughed. No reason, we just laughed.
"What?" She asked. But I had no answer.
I believed that when you were so close with a person or your friend and when you looked at their eyes, you would see their soul. You would know if they were true to you or not, you would know what they feel and you would know that your life would not be the same or as fantastic as it was now without them. Yvonne was one of the greatest gifts that heaven gave me and I was so blessed to have her. She could be so silly sometimes, but that did not make me hate her, because the fact was I loved her very much and those silly things she did, it's part of her. It's part of her personality that I had embraced.
If ever there would be a time when I would wake up one morning and I would magically become straight, I would find Yvonne and marry her immediately. But that was not the case. I was always trying to be a straight and I could not try more. They said try and try until you succeed, but it was not applicable at all situations. If I would do it, I would lose my life, I would lose happiness and I would lose myself.
"Nothing, I will miss you, bitch."
"You're overacting! We can Skype whenever you want. Plus, I can go there if you want me, too." She said, a drop of tears escaped from her eyes.
"No, not like that. I mean, can I just say that I will miss you?" I said, rolling my eyes and I was almost close to tears.
"So you came here just for that?" She said, changing her mood. And before I could reply, she stood up from where she was sitting then she walked toward me and gave me tight hug. "Of course I will miss you, Dominic." She gave me a peck on my cheek and we held each other there until our arms got hurt.
We untangled ourselves and wiped away tears. She continued her breakfast and I went to their living room to watch TV.
Yvonne and I were watching her favorite TV show where there were celebrities who gave fashion, make-ups and beauty advice to the viewers. This TV show had been running for two years and in that scope, Yvonne had learned and copied a lot of fashion trends which was why sometimes I let her pick what clothes I had to wear at a certain occasion or sometimes I made her check and judge my outfit.
