Chapter 29
MRS. ROBINSONS BROUGHT us some liquor yesternight and those were not like lady drinks that I was expecting, those where strong whiskies. We had felt the effect this morning when it was already eleven in the morning and yet Krishna and I were still on our bed.
"My head," Krishna moaned, massaging her temple. "I will go shower first." She stood up and went to bathroom.
I waited for her until she was done. When she went out, hair still wet and tangled from shower and wearing just a bathrobe, Mrs. Robinson's voice echoed from behind the door.
I walked to it and opened the door. "Good morning, Dominic. Is Krishna up already?" She greeted.
"Yes," I looked back to Krishna who was drying her hair with a blower. "...Hey, Mrs. Robinson's looking for you."
"Actually, it's not me. It's Marcus." Appearing behind her was the guy that Krishna helped yesterday.
"Oh. Hey." I greeted reaching his hand.
"Good morning Mrs. Robinsons." Krishna greeted, opening the door wider. Her eyes popped open when she saw Marcus. "Hey, you,"
Marcus bashfully nodded. "I just came here to thank you for what you did yesterday. I'm Marcus, by the way." Krishna held her hand out and Marcus took it and shook it carefully before he handed her a bouquet of flower and a box of macaroons.
"Dominic, I think we should give them some time to talk." Mrs. Robinsons pulled me invitingly by my hand and turned to Krishna. "We'll just be upstairs, girl."
I looked back at Krishna and gave her a wink before heading upstairs.
"Krishna would surely like his company." I told Mrs. Robinsons.
"Did you see her smile?"
"The same smile when she sees cute boys." And we both giggled. "Where are the others?"
We rounded the corner, walking to the entrance of dining area. The rest were there, having their meals. I kept my gaze to Jerome and Yvonne spoon-feeding one another. They looked sweet that I felt a bit jealous. I tried not to think of Greg, but it seemed that we'd done what other couples were doing. We were so happy and contented then.
Jerome must have felt my gaze because he nodded on my direction and greeted me with a smile. He was sitting with Yvonne and he seemed OK now compared to yesterday. Stephanie was bespectacled today, taking pictures of the good plating of the food. She was busy that she didn't seem to notice that I sat beside her.
"You look pretty with eyeglasses. I wonder why you stick on those colored contact lenses that make you look less Asian."
"Eyeglasses usually fall off during rehearsals. That's why I started using lenses. Plus they are convenient and stylish. You were talking last day about your vision getting blurred right? Well I suggest you get your eyes check and ask for lenses."
She was right. My vision wasn't that clear these days. "I will think of that. What color you think would suit me?"
She stared on my face. "I don't know. Maybe brown or you can choose not to change the color of your dark eyes. It looks just fine."
"Look at Krishna." Yvonne ordered and we all turned to the entrance door. She was smiling as she sat beside Mrs. Robinsons. "Hey, hey. What's with that smile?" Yvonne asked her.
