Chapter Eleven

I stepped onto the stage and took a deep breath as the man told me to walk to the centre and he's tell me when to stop.

"Alright, that should be good," he said. "Now we just need to wait and see how long it's going to take for something to happen."

"Are you serious?" I practically snapped at him. But Simon gave me a look that frightened me to the point where I didn't want to speak again for the moment.

So I turned and looked back at the podium things that were doing nothing. I have no idea what even is supposed to happen anyways. Do they move or something? Transform into birds? Maybe dragons? I have no idea.

I stood there for a minute but then the middle podium started to glow a subtle blue colour. It seemed like it waited for a while to make sure it knew what it was doing, then it glowed even brighter.

The slanted top of it shot out a beam of light that went up way above our heads. It was a bright dark blue light that morphed and shaped itself until it became a huge dragon. One that looked like the long dragon from my dream.

The dragon blew fire off towards Simon and the headmaster guy before it exploded like fireworks, completely disappearing into thin air. I looked back at the podium, completely stunned. It was no longer glowing, it looked just like all the other ones.

"Welcome to our school Eve Howe." The headmaster guy said from behind me. "I'll be sure to let the wizarding teachers that you'll be joining them soon."

I stomped into the house very loudly, I knew my mom was there and she needed to know that I was now home too. Simon was smugly smiling behind me. I hated this, but it had to be done. She had lied to me, about a lot of things, and now she's going to have to pay the consequences by seeing me leave.

The headmaster told me all about my mom and my real father's relationship. Told me some things about my father, but said that he disappeared about a month after he left my mom. Then he told me about some basic magic spells and had me try them out.

They worked, and I was starting to wonder what was really real anymore, then he gave me a book to look at while he helped some students and I knew I was transferring. So I came home to collect my things and say goodbye to my high school.

I felt pretty rebellious, but mostly pissed off.

My mom was waiting in the living room. She seemed distressed, but mostly relieved to see me. "Oh thank god Eve, you've been gone since Monday. I mean I thought I saw you Tuesday but I haven't seen magic in so long, so I couldn't be too sure. But then you never came home, and its Thursday already and I was going to call the police, I was so worried!"

I looked anywhere but directly at mom. She was looking between Simon and I as if she was looking for an explanation.

"Mom, I'm transferring schools." I told her straight up.

Her face showed horror and sadness at the same time. "Was it something I did?"

I sighed, "mom I'm like my real dad, I have to learn how to control it and this school is going to be good for me."

I watched as she slowly grew sadder by the second, "I figured."

She then turned away and walked right into the kitchen without saying another word. I glanced at Simon, I was a bit worried for her but she kind of deserved it. Lying to me my whole life.

Simon didn't show any kind of emotion so I moved on, hurrying upstairs to pack everything I would think I needed while at school. Simon stood in the doorway and made evaluations on the things I was packing. Though some of his comments were just stupid remarks, a lot of them helped me figure out what my new school would be like.
