"Get your ass out of here" Voight yells.
Jen walks by Voight and tackle his shoulder as she passes. He doesn't move at all, he won't give her anything, not a single movement. She don't deserve that, Jen doesn't deserve that sort of attention; to feel power.
I look at Jen. I can see on how she's walking that she is angry, the way she moves is rigid, yet tiring. Normally the way she walk is soft and her body screams proudness as she always keep her back straight and chin slightly upward.
As I keep pushing Cal to the car I continue looking at Jen, it's interesting to see what she will do. She could do something bad, go back to Voight or even simply go away as Voight told her to. But if she does that without complaining, we should be worrying about something.
When I reach the car I open the door and put one of my hands on Cal's head.
"Watch your head" I say.
Not that I meant it, but we have things we have to do even if we don't want it. For example telling people their rights and make sure they don't hit their head in the car. I've hit so many people's heads in the edge it's not worth counting anymore. Just to protect myself, most of them deserved it.
When Cal is in the car I close the door and look back at Jennifer. She hasn't even gotten out of the dead end yet, I'm actually a bit worried because she's not herself today.
Erin appear, together with the other. She look at me and I walk to her.
"You good?" I ask.
It was a pretty bad gun fight back there and by one little mistake, someone could have gotten really hurt.
"Yeah, you?" She reply.
I nod and put my freezing hands in my pockets "It's freezing today" I say.
"I could warm you up" She say, I look at her and smile "Tonight at my place" she continues.
"What makes you think I want to come?" I ask and give her a silly smile.
Erin smile back "Because I got the good stuff" she say.
I look at her, it's like she's almost posing in front of me.
"Don't look at me, I'm talking about what makes you funky" she say
"I don't get funky when I'm drunk" I reply.
I look back at Jen. Now she's walking slower and it's like she can't keep her balance. I start walking toward her.
Suddenly she collapse. Just like that her body falls down as if all bone inside her went soft. When she hit the ground I wait for her to laugh and get back up again but I don't see a single movement.
"Call an ambulance!" I scream as I start to run toward her.
I approach her, my warm hand falls softly on her cold skin. I place my other hand over her chest that barely rise and fall, she contains a slowly beating heart. She lay on her side, eyes open but unseeing, mouth slightly open.
It's like all energy within her has blown away and left her close to lifeless on the ground.
