It's no one else than the long lost Theodore Howard Bratner. I am so surprised by the fact that the love of my life has shown up that I do not know what way to react. Normally I would run up to him and kiss him but I am so shocked that I lay still."Uh, sure" I say "Close the draperies" I tell him and he do as I say.
The thing is, he seem to be someone completely else than the one I remember. And seeing the badge at his waist and the gun alongside with it, makes me question myself if all criminals become police nowadays.
"May I?" He ask and point toward the chair that's beside me.
I nod, and then he sit down on the chair.
I'm about to say something but he speaks before I get the chance to even open my mouth.
"I was working undercover when Cal brought you in, a fifteen year old girl who had no damn reason to be in the business. I dropped my focus on Cal and started putting energy on getting you out of there but I sooner realized that what I thought was getting you out, was bringing you closer. And not to mention that I was in fact bringing myself closer to you. I therefore, three years later, saw no other choice but to use my only option to get you out of there. Yes, I was the one who put you in jail, blame me" he says.
Then he pauses, but continues again "I'm telling you this because I want, I need to come clean with you because I, I want to start over" he says.
"How much of it was real?" I ask.
He grab my hand "All of it"
"Hey look, I want nothing else but to start over, but I'd prefer to do that when we know for sure my head won't explode" I say and grab an ice bag from the nightstand and put it on my forehead.
"Let's keep it professional then and let's discuss some questions. FBI is taking over this investigation since we have reasons to believe that the shadows are connected to this kidnapping" he says, looking disappointed.
He probably don't want to keep it cool. Neither do I, I want things to be like they were before, I just do not know how to do that.
"Have you talked to my unit about this?" I ask.
"No" he replies.
"Please don't, Voight will indeed kill you. Let someone else handle the talking, alright?" I say.
"I'm FBI, you know that right?" he says.
"I sure do, but Voight don't care" I say "now, what about those questions?" I ask.
He's about the answer when there's a knock on the door and someone enters. It's Dr. Rhodes. He immediately sees Theodore and introduces himself to him.
"Feeling any better?" Rhodes ask me.
"Define better" I say.
"Not like mashed potatoes" he answer.
"Then I'm way better" I reply.
He grab a stethoscope and place the cold metal bit under my shirt and onto my cracked ribs to listen to my lungs.
"Lungs sounds great, we will decrease the oxygen level by tonight" he says.
"Great" I reply.
He then leaves and leave me with Theodore.
"Lets get going, what did the kidnappers want from you?" He ask.
I hesitate to answer, I don't want to remember what happened.
"The access code to our database" I say.
"And you gave it to them?" He ask.
"No, I didn't have it. I don't have it" I reply. "And it killed a woman" I say, years starting to leave my eyes.
