-Voight's pov-We arrive at the district and go upstairs. The first thing Jennifer do is to slump down in the ugly red bean bag she has put in the corner behind Erin.
"Sorry to tell you Voight but if you're 'gonna have me to paint with crayons again, you're 'gonna have to fear the old Jennifer" she say.
"Your choice" I reply and go into my office.
I peek through my window and see Jennifer placing her drawing pad over her face and slumping down even further down in her bead bag.
I don't know why I went into my office, I really don't have anything certain to do here and we need to do something now if we want to catch those criminals.
I walk out of my office, but stop right after. Everyone look up at me with curious looks.
"We know The Shadows are behind this, all we need to do is to catch them. We need ideas, now" I say.
The curious looks becomes focused.
"We need to lure them to us" Antonio says.
"And how are we 'gonna do that?" Jay asks.
"We need a bait" Atwater fills in.
"We always got Jennifer" Ruzek says.
It's like a chicken farm. Chattering everywhere. Someone says something and the other fills in with another stupid idea.
I look at Jennifer. The only movement I can see on her is her chest rising and falling by her in- and exhales.
I know she said she was going to change and have a new good start and I've seen it in her but something she definitely hasn't changed is her sleeping. She can basically fall asleep in the middle of a sentence. But she can't take a long sleep in; she's weird.
"We'll just have Jennifer call them and-" Atwater says.
"And we'll take them down on spot" Antonio interrupt.
"No!" I yell to make them all stop.
Everyone stop and look at me instead. Jennifer straighten up and the drawing pad drops down in her knee.
"What did I miss?" She ask confused.
"We are not putting her out there" I tell them.
"But what other choice do we have?" Al says.
"I said no, find another way" I say and go back into my office.
It doesn't take long before Jennifer enters, she close the door behind her stand in front of my desk.
"I don't really know what you guys talked about but I want you to know that I will do whatever it takes. It might me dangerous for me but I 'wanna be the one who make sure he's the one in danger" she say.
"No" I say.
"Come on Hank" she say.
"No" I reply.
"I'll be downstairs if you for some reason would need me" she say disappointed and throw her drawing pad on my desk.
There's nothing special on it, I guess she's not so much of a drawer but that's the only thing I dare to let her do at the moment.
I might feel like she's not ready yet, but we will get there. Sooner or later she'll become a cop, the kind who will make a lot of progress because of her passion.
Sooner or later.
