"She ran?" Al asks when I get into the car.
I Look at him and nod "Cal went that way" I say and point forward.
Al starts driving in the direction I showed him to, he look at me for a brief moment and then he look back at the road.
"She talked to Cal?" Al asks surprised.
"I don't know yet"
All this could have happened in two ways, one of the two ways are bad. Either she talked to Peyton and set up a meeting with her, and then Peyton talked to Cal behind Jen's back to get Jen into trouble . Or, Jen talked to Cal to help herself out, I don't know which one it is but for her sake I hope it's the first one.
"Maybe you should give up on her" Al says.
No I'm not giving up on her, she is a good person. I know there's a good person within her, it's just something that keep dragging her into this business and when I find out what that is, I can help her for real. It feels like the only right thing to do is to help her, I believe in her.
"No I'm not giving up on her, not yet" I say.
The further we come, it start to feel pointless to search for Cal. Even though he's only the leader of The Shadows, he's good at disappearing as well as the others. Right now it feels like we're wasting time.
I'm gazing straight ahead, only being half aware of the world outside and more aware of my own thoughts. Being in my own thoughts makes me realize that I'm very hungry, my stomach growls and I almost squirm in my seat to silence the rumbling. Al don't seem to care, or maybe he didn't hear anything.
Maybe it's a bad idea to go after Cal. We should probably go back to where Jen ran away and try to track her from there. But even that seems like a bad idea because she could have gotten very far by now.
You know what. It's beer time. Imagine a cold glass bottle with fizzy and sparkly beer, yep it's definitely beer time.
"Let's go get a beer" Al says.
"Words out of my mouth" I reply.
So sorry guys, this one is really short and it's because I'm out of time and I don't really have any more ideas for this chapter :( Sorry.
