i risen from my nightly slumber, that transitioned into the morning light. the sun's bright reflection awoken me, forcing my eyes to open up.

i checked my phone seeing a few notifications. one was a good morning text from shawn, and a miss call.

i slid the lock screen to the right, then tapped on my messages that indicated my missed message from shawn.

shawnee💕: good morning babygirl! i'm really sorry for yesterday, but i'll make it up to you. i love you :*

a small smile formed on my face knowing that he cares, or at least acts like he does.

i scrolled down, glancing at some of our old messages. then, i found one we sent to each other in the beginning of our relationship. a lump grew in my throat as i read our conversation.

me: i don't know shawn. i'm scared.

shawnee💕: scared of what?

me: getting hurt.

shawnee💕: i won't ever hurt you, physically or emotionally. i want to be the one who puts your beautiful smile of your face. i will never leave your side.

me: you mean that?

shawnee💕: cross my heart.

and that's how our beautiful-messed up relationship came into place. sure he might've meant it before, but if he reads it again, would it ever come to mind that he lied.

he lied about how he would never hurt me. that he wants to be the one who wants to put a smile on my face.

he did hurt me. he's the one that brings tears down my eyes. and the last one. i can already imagine him telling me those 'it's not you, it's me' breakup lines. leaving me in tears, while he leaves with his better, prettier, smarter girlfriend.

yet, even with his lies, selfishness, i still want him to love me with every piece my shattered heart broke into.
