A New Dawn Rising

I slowly keep walking on the wet slippery streets, rain pouring down on me, making me as wet as a sea sponge. I hide my hands in my jacket's sleeves and put my hood on. I've always loved walking under the rain but, man, I've hated that my glasses would be filled up with water and I it would be literally impossible for me to see. That's what's happening right now too. I quickly lay my hands on my glasses as a hat would, so I can still see. The clocks of the big square downtown said it was 4am, why am I walking under the rain at 4am?

I've been visiting my grandma, she was more than happy to see me, almost as happy as I was to see her. I held her tight, knowing that it would've become almost impossible visiting ever as often as I used to. She had cooked for me, my favorite food. And begged me to bring something to James too, I agreed, making her even happier. She liked James right away, and I'll never recall why. She's in her 60s, she has grown up in different times so she basically critizise everyone and everything. She's not aware that it's not right, it's normal for her. And I've always let her do that, hurting at every bad word she said about people she didn't even know.

I left her place at 10pm and walked for 6 hours. Woah, I've been walking for 6 hours. Well, I stopped by a café for a while, and met John there. I've tried acting normal, it's been a challenge, I won't lie. I've told him he could come and meet me at the Hotel every now and then, and he told me that he has seen Holden and Alex wandering around in there so he agreed. I've also called Rocky and chatted with him for a little while, not making references to the fact that I died, of course. He kept asking about James, if he hurt me or abused me or shit like that. But I know he's probably just worrying about me, so I've let him talk.

I finally reach a hill where only a bench is. Why would someone build up a bench in the middle of nowhere is still a mystery to me but I'm glad they did. I sit down, my jeans are now completely wet, as my socks, shirt and shoes are. But, fortunately, rain stopped falling.

"You're right on time" a familiar voice says, I softly smile at that beautiful sound. I slowly glance up at him, studying every of his moves.

"What are you hiding there?" I ask glancing at a brownish bag he's trying to hide behind his back, he soon laughs.

"I wanna know how was your evening first, then you'll know what I'm hiding"

"It was good. My grandma said I should marry you, Rocky that I should leave you" I smile,

"Well, I prefer your grandma over Rocky. I think it's as clear as water" he softly chuckles, I laugh.

"Show me what you're hiding! James, please! Pleeeeease!" I moan in a childish tone, feeling like a little girl who really wants her parents to buy her something she likes but they keep on teasing her.

"Alright, alright" he laughs as I try to grab the bag.

He warmly smiles at me for a while before finally grabbing the bag and handing it to me with another wide smile.

"James" I say in shock taking a glance of what's in the bag, tears in my eyes.

Another brownish little bag is on the inside, a familiar logo on it. McDonald's.

"You brought me McDonald's take away?" I ask still in shock, a good kind of shock.

"I did?" he laughs as I quickly wrap my arms around his waist and hold him the tighter I can.
