The morning rises, and I'm quick to get out of bed. Rabbit is absent, but the sound of water running has notified me otherwise. I get dressed and replace my gear. Rabbit enters into the room, fully prepared, chomping on a bagel.

"Last night before I came into house, I thanked Joanie for letting me in."

"Ok?" Rabbit questions.

"She knew my name."

"So?" He says with snark. "Maybe Colin said something to her."

I shrug.

Rabbit gives me a small smile and meets me by the chair. He takes my hand and pulls me up.

"Can you see what I'm about to do to you?" He smirks.

"No." I laugh. "You are not being dangerous enough.

He laughs along with me before kissing my lips. "Come on, let's go over to the Hall. Asher, John, and Allison are there."

I agree and follow Rabbit over to the hall. We meet up with the group and take in a small brunch. Our conversation is interrupted by the sheer screams of terror. I'm quick to my feet and rush out to see what the commotion is all about. That's when the first image hits me.

"Vincent Trek." I gasp and rush to Rabbit.

"He's here." I panic.

"Who?" Rabbit says, concern pained across his face.

"Trek." I barely whisper and rush back outside. Rabbit and the rest of the group stay hot on my trail. When I catch his appearance, I nearly stop breathing. He is heavily guarded by his troops who look eager to make anybody who gets out of place their meal. I notice Joanie speaking intimating to Trek and suddenly realization hits me. This was all a trap. Running will do me no good, so I decide to devise a plan.

"This is a fucking ambush." Rabbit curses. "We need to get out of here."

"We are already spotted, if we run we die." I hush.

Trek and his goons come closer as Joanie points me out.

"So." He speaks eloquently. "You are the hybrid."

I bite back my utter hatred for the man, taking a few steps backwards. He smiles, snapping his fingers at one of the guards. The vampire quickly hands Trek a handful of papers as he diligently reads over them.

"How did you survive all this time living amongst humans?" He asks.

"Wildlife is just as good."

"Ha!" He laughs out loud. "My dear, have you ever tasted the sweetness of human blood?"

Again Trek snaps his fingers, this time a guard snatches a young woman from the compound presenting her to his ruler.

"Don't!" I shout.

Trek looks at me with confusion. "It's very rude to turn down someone's offer to lunch."

"It is me you want, let her go."

He laughs again. "Heroics is not going to save this woman's life!" And within seconds, Trek has the woman's throat torn open before snapping her neck. I sense Rabbit's finger tighten around the trigger of his gun.

"Ease up Rabbit." I side mouth, watching his muscles release.

"What do you want, Trek?" I command, furthering myself from the group.

He licks his fingers in a mocking manner. He uses the girl's shirt to wipe his hands before turning back to me. "You are my next project and I have everything else I need for it except...you." He points.
