The man's mouth drops. "Hurry them in." He orders the group.

We are ushered in, quickly with the wall closing behind us. For once, I feel safe. For once, I feel relaxed. For once, I feel like we don't have to run. We are led to a large building with people scurrying about. A large sign reads REGISTRATION above our heads as with enter through the glass sliding doors.

"Right this way, please." An elderly lady smiles.

I keep to the back of line, quickly joined by Liam.

"You've been keeping to yourself." He talks casually.

"I've tried to keep my interactions with humans a minimum."

"Why?" I sense the confusion in his voice.

"Rabbit is right, we are not human." I speak bluntly.

Liam looks around to make sure no one has heard my blatant confession. "Could you not say that so loudly?" He side mouths.

I sigh deeply. "I'm sorry."

The line moves swiftly and before I know it, I'm up next.

"Name please?" The woman asks.

"Samantha Smith."

"Age?"

"25." I continue.

"And your date of birth, please."

"October 15th, 1989."

She nods handing me a slip of paper with a number on it before sending me off with the others. I faintly hear Liam answer the same questions, joking mindlessly with the woman. He joins me shortly after, flicking the paper back and forth with his finger. I grab his hand, silencing the annoying sound. He grin mischievously, surrendering with his other hand.

"What is this line for?" He asks.

"I'm not sure." I answer feeling rather annoyed.

Liam and I finally catch the end of the line as we are partnered up.

"Numbers please." A man asks scanning over a stack of papers.

We hand our numbers over, looking at each other uncertain of where this is going.

"Do you know each other?" He asks.

"We do." Liam nods.

"Great." He says emotionlessly. "You are apartment 10 in building 4A. Here are your keys. Follow the rest of your group." He points.

"Thank you." I smile but the man just moves on to the next person.

We are led out of the building and walked a few blocks down to an apartment building with '4A' painted boldly upon its facing wall. Liam and I find apartment 10 and head in. It's very vanilla, only supplied with essential appliances and furniture.

"I guess this is home?" He questions.

"Yeah I guess." I concur.

"Well." He claps his hands. "We will make it work, but right now I'm not worried about the bland apartment." He continues placing a hand on his stomach.

"Come on, we better go hunt."

Liam and I head back out of the building and search the city for some sort of wildlife. Very little lives within the city, making our choice quite limited.

"Rabbits are going to get old." Liam huffs.

"I know." I nod, knowing all too well how a hungry vampire can be. "Here." I say swiftly scooping up a groundhog. "This is a bit better."
