"Hello." The girl greeted the tall man with black hair, that was approaching her cage. She pushed herself up and walked to the front of the cell and have the man her sweetest smile. "How may I help you today stranger?" She asked.
"I'm here to conduct a psyche evaluation on you today." The man's comment caught the experiment by surprise.
"A psyche evaluation, why? I'm perfectly sane." She heard the voice her head cackle at her comment. "Even if I was insane, I don't follow the same human code you do."
"I'm well aware of your differences but just because you aren't qualified as human doesn't mean that you can't have a slight mental issue. I just want to ask a few questions and I'll be out of your hair." The doctor explained. "Would you like to take a walk?" He stepped forward and entered a code into the number pad. After typing in the digits a small metal door on the side wall swung open revealing a key hole. The doctor pulled out a strange silver key from his coat pocket and walked over to the key hole. He turned the key, unlocking the steel door on the back wall, thus opening the cage. He nodded his head slightly and stared at the complex cage in awe. "Wow that's an amazing system." He remarked.
The Experiment walked out of her cage and rolled her eyes. "Yes so amazing. I'm so happy that they figured out how keep me in my room." The doctor gave her a strange look.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that." He apologized. The girl smiled at him.
"No problem Doc. I don't really care; it's not like my escape plans ever worked in the first place." The man nodded and started walking away. The Experiment quickly caught up to him and stopped him.
"I'm not in the mood to be sedated right now so before we go on a nature hike we need to grab a guard." The doctor smiled at her.
"I already have permission for a privet session with you. We're going to go outside with no guards or surveillance." I thought you might appreciate some time out in the sun without an army following you for once." The girl stared at him skeptically. "I do have both a Taser and a pistol on my person at the moment though so I wouldn't try anything if I were you." She peeked into his head to see if he was telling the truth.
He's not lying so be careful, the voice in her head warned.
"Okay I don't try to run off, you don't try to shoot me. Sounds like a deal." The doctor smiled at her and started walking away once again.
The Experiment followed him through the facility. She glanced at the open offices of the staff. Their were doctors staring at computer screens, military men and women grouped around tables, the interns eating in the cafeteria and the few loners walking around aimlessly waiting for an assignment. The girl and the new psychologist were near the front of the building when they passed the testing labs. The girl stopped and stared into the rooms filled with monstrous horrors and beings that were being groomed for the same purpose she was; being a weapon. The military wanted to use her to kill other people and that's what they wanted from all their experiments. She was the only one that had been created to look human and to be intelligent. She was a genius with a photographic memory and dozens of powers so she was just a shaken cocktail of bad ideas and rebellion. The girl looked away from the labs and continued walking with the doctor. Finally the two people reached the front doors. The doctor pushed open the doors and walked out. The Experiment paused when she walked outdoors. She smiled and took a deep breath.
The doctor turned back and watched as the girl bathed in the sun. "When was the last time you were outside?" He questioned.
"5 months." She sighed sadly. "I mean I can see it from the windows but last time I was taken outside I tried to escape, so I haven't been out since." He nodded solemnly. He opened his gray trench coat and pulled out a tape recorder.
"I'm going to record your answers. Please be honest and open with your responses." He pushed a bottom on the side of the device and started asking his questions.
"How old are you?"
"I've been alive for twenty of Earth's rotations around the sun." The doctor rolled his eyes slightly.
"Okay, so you've been alive for 20 years." He confirmed.
"What's your birthdate?" He continued.
"That's a complicated subject but technically I was made as an average 5 year-old girl on July 14, 2021."
"Do you know how you were created? If so, please explain."
"Well, my brain was developed in a lab. They had issues creating a stable body though so they used a body of a young 5 year-old girl. I'm not sure the science of it but to avoid killing the girl they...molded our brains together." The doctor nodded his head. He was staring at the ground with a look of sorrow and longing. He sighed heavily and continued his questions.
"Is that girl still in your head?" He questioned, looking back up at the Experiment. She swallowed.
"Yes, as a matter of fact she is still alive in my head. She's grown with me and is a part of me but in a strange way I'm not really a part of her; if that makes sense." The doctor barley seemed to be paying attention. He was staring at the Experiment but he wasn't seeing her; his mind was seeing something far different.
"May I ask you a question?" The girl's question seemed to bring the doctor back from his trance.
"Wh...what?"
"May I ask you a question?" The Experiment repeated. The doctor nodded silently.
"Did you know the girl." The man sighed painfully.
"Yes I did." He answered' his voice filled with misery and torment. "She was my daughter." He smiled with tears in his eyes. Once again he drifted into his own mind; he was still talking but it was no longer directed at the other person with him. "Her name was Andria. It was a combination of her mother and I's names, Anna and Drew. She was a beautiful girl with bright blue eyes and thick black hair." The Experiment watched as the doctor hung his head and sobbed. "I didn't want to let her go. I miss her so much, even after 20 years." Eventually the an pulled himself back up and stopped weeping. He cleared his throat. "So...sorry about that. Let's....let's um continue." Taking another moment to collect himself, the doctor paused. "So um what's your purpose? Why were you created?" He asked with a shaky voice.
"I'm being trained to be weapon for the military. "I've been given abilities so I have kill and I have a lack of empathy so I have no remorse about killing those people."
"Have you ever killed anyone?" The question was rather abrupt and caught the Experiment by surprise.
"I've killed other test subjects and experiments but no I've never harmed another person."
"I notice you don't refer to the other trials as inhuman. What do you consider yourself?" His voice was strong and neutral once again.
"I'm a genetic freak and a monster." The girl responded with a smile. "So Drew, I've noticed that you weren't asked to be here; you pushed and whined until my team allowed you to come. Knowing what I do about you and your past, I'm interested in your plan." The Experiment blurted before the man could ask his next question.
"I think we're done for today. I'll be visiting again tomorrow." He smiled mischievously at the girl. Together they walked back to her cell. He locked her in and turned towards the door opposite the cage. Suddenly Drew twisted on his heel and faced the Experiment once again. "I never asked what your name is."
"I don't have a name." The girl answered flatly.
"Well I guess we'll speak about that tomorrow. Goodbye for now, E." The girl smiled and blew a kiss.
"Goodbye Drew." She watched the doctor walk away. Finally she stopped fighting the voice in her head. A flood of questions and words filled her head. The experiment sighed as she listened to the babbling of Andria. She walked over to her bed in the corner and calmly spoke to the person no one could see.
