As much as Regina refused, her eyes began to open. Regina didn't know where she was for a moment and looked around. She could tell it was colder than when she had fallen asleep, the fire had gone out, leaving the room with an eeriness about it. It had became silent also, well almost silent, she could hear someone breathing beneath her. Regina's eyes found David sleeping half way underneath her. "What-"
"Charming?" Regina could hear Snow's voice just outside of the room.
"Oh shi-" Regina was cut off again.
"Charming?" Snows perky voice said entering the room.
Regina didn't know what to do, the sound of the creaky door opening warning her that she was about to be caught. Quickly she rolled off of the couch and slid under it before snow entered the room.
"There you are!" Snow said.
Regina closed her eyes tight as if her not seeing Snow meant Snow couldn't see her.
David stirred from his much needed sleep as he found he no longer had anything to grasp.
David immediately noticed her missing and opened his eyes. He sat up looking to find she was gone. Was she ever really there? Was it just a dream? He asked himself still drowsy from the sleep he finally got.
"David!" Snow said running around to greet him.
"Snow." David said still confused, but tried to hide it with a smile.
"I've been looking everywhere for you! You can't just run away after we have another fight. Don't you want to work things out?" Snow asked.
Okay this is getting awkward. Regina thought to herself. Quietly she flicked her wrist, poofing away only without the signature flair of her purple smoke.
Regina stumbled a little once appearing in her room.
"What the hell was I thinking!" Regina asked herself, then her thoughts continued. "What the hell was going on." Were the Charmings really having marriage problems? She wandered.
Regina let out a sigh and flopped onto her bed.
Her relaxing soon was ended when she heard someone running in the hallways to her room. "You need to leave, her majesty alone." She heard a muffled voice say.
"But I want to see the Queen." She heard a child's voice say before the door opened abruptly and she sat up. "Regina!" The little one shouted running towards the queen. He was holding a stuffed monkey.
Regina had given him the toy one night when he told her about the nightmare he had. She had said that if any flying monkeys came she would turn them into a stuffed animal. The boy was skeptical at first and to prove it to him she held out her hand and brought the other hand above, when she lifted her hand from the other, the stuffed monkey appeared.
The boy hasn't let it go since.
"I'm sorry, your majesty, I couldn't catch the little bugger." He sighed with a smile watching the bundle of brown hair run to the queen with open arms.
Regina quickly caught him and brought him to her lap. "Why hello, little one." Regina smiled at the boy, squeezing him in a hug.
Roland was a fit of giggles. Even Robin let out a chuckle at the scene in front of him. His boy really could make anyone smile. "Come on, Roland. I'm sure the queen is busy."
"But papa." The boy whined.
"It's really fine," Regina spoke to Robin. "Just let me get dressed and what do you say we go out and pick some flowers."
The boys face beamed. "Okay! Come on papa," Roland said hoping out of the queens lap. "Gina's got to change and I'm gonna pick flowers with her." Roland said running to his father.
Robin chuckled. "Yes, my boy, I heard." Robin said rustling the boy's hair. "Come, let's give the queen some privacy." Robin said leading his son out the door.
Before he closed the door Regina could here Roland say "you're soooo jealous." Causing Regina to giggle before getting up from her bed.
This was good. This should get her mind off David for a while, she told herself.
Facing herself in the mirror she waved her hand and enveloped herself with a purple smoke. When the smoke dissipated she was wearing a velvet red dress. With another wave of her hand her hair and make up was done. Her make up was light and her hair was left down. She stepped into her shoes and walked outside her room to quite a scene.
Robin was leaning against the wall with his hand brought to his forehead. "Am not." The thief said.
"Are too!" The boy said rocking on the balls of his feet.
"I am not." Robin insisted.
"You are so,"
"Roland I am not jealous."
Regina cleared her throat announcing her presence.
Robin's face turned red. "Your highness." He said standing up.
Regina smiled. "Are you ready to go, Roland?" she said looking at the boy who was satisfied with his argument.
"Mhm," he said nodding his head.
Regina walked over to him and held out her hand, which the boy gripped quickly. "I'll have him back in an hour?" She said asking if that was ok.
"Sounds good." Robin smiled with a nod of his head.
Robin watched as Roland walked beside the queen, hand in hand. The boy had charm, he couldn't deny it, he chuckled to himself at the thought.
Roland looked over his shoulder giving his papa a smile almost to say ha ha. Robin smiled dropping his head and Roland turned back around.
The Queen and the boy had fun picking flowers, Regina had showed him how to make a crown using the flowers they had found. Roland had trouble with it and crinkled most of the flowers before he could get them intertwined in a circle. He gave the crown to Regina and she gave hers to him. They both wore their crowns back to the castle together.
Regina sighed smiling, as she removed the crown. She waved her hand over it, casting a preservation spell over it before setting it down on her vanity.
Today was the first bright day she had since the return, but she was afraid it wouldn't last for long.
She thought about why it was such a good day. Of coarse it didn't take her long for her to realize that Roland reminded her of her son. But that wasn't all of it, although she missed Henry greatly. It was the love of a child. She grieved to be a mother to her own child more than anything. Not that she didn't love Henry like he was the only thing that matters, because he was. Is. She had always wanted to carry her own child, but she knew she never could.
Regina laid back on her bed and placed a hand over her stomach.
She had taken to much, gone threw to much. Yet she still brought herself to go threw more everyday. And she was tired of it. Very tired.
