David knocked on her door and waited. It had been a month since she escaped from Zelena, when he had brought her in from the cold. After he told Snow he had found her she had kept up with her well being and until a week ago she didn't wake. Until a week ago he would visit her every night to check on her even if there was nothing he could do. As soon as she did wake though Snow said she was fine and was acting as stubborn as ever about it.
He was going to see her durning that meeting Snow had decided to schedule to finally speak over what Glinda had told her but he couldn't wait till tomorrow. So there he stood, waiting at her door.
^(How will I know by Sam smith)^
"Who is it?" He heard her respond through the door.
"It's me, David."
He heard a quiet "come in," and he proceeded to open the door. Once he entered his eyes immediately found her. She sat a ways away from him across the room in her black night gown ready for bed. He didn't see her straight on, but through her vanity mirror. The candle she must of moved back was lit and the light from the flame danced on her face.
Hesitatingly he began to walk towards her.
"Stop, please stay where you are." She said and stood up to face him but never looking into his gaze.
He stopped in his tracks and looked at the beautiful woman in front of him. The woman that drove him crazy about her. "Regina, Why haven't you spoken to me?"
Regina's gaze remained to the floor. "I don't know." She said quietly.
"I know you're scared, all I want to do is protect you, I want to keep you safe." David said concentrating on her face as she looked up at him for the first time since he's come in the room.
"Why?" She asked looking into his eyes. "Why do you care?" She said as a tear slipped from her eyes.
"Because Regina..." How she didn't already know his feelings he couldn't understand.
"I love you." He said each word slowly and with care. He meant it. "The thought of loosing you made me realize that more than anything. I can't loose you and thinking of what that witch could of done to you makes my blood boil. Not being able to be there for you killed me inside." His voice faltered only once thinking of how he couldn't do anything to protect her then.
He pushed himself to continue.
"I want to be the one you can count on. I want to be the person you go to when you think you can't go on. I want to be the person that you love, because Regina, I love you madly, endlessly, and completely, with my heart and soul."
Regina stood silently, her mouth left slightly open at the shock of what the Prince had just said. Her breathing had slightly quickened and her brows were scrunched together. She didn't know what to say, she was at a loss for words. He constantly confused her. She dropped her gaze and the room fell quiet for a moments passing.
"You have to go." She said looking back up at him.
"What?" He asked.
