Chapter 11 || Suspended

"Can't run? What do you mean I can't run?" I said speed walking after Minho as he got ready to go into the maze. "It means..." He stopped and I almost ran into him as he turned around to look at me. "That you can't go into the Maze for a few weeks." I shook my head. "Well what the heck for?" I demanded and he groaned as he turned to keep walking, and I followed.

"You punched Gally, Nicole." I threw my hands up even though he couldn't see since I was behind him. "Yeah well, he deserved it!" Minho glanced at me over his shoulder. "Doesn't matter if he deserved it. Never harm another Glader. You know the rules." "Screw the rules! Gally punches kids all the time! How come when I do it, I get punished?" I saw Minho shake his head slightly. "Because at least those guys can fight back. Gally can't hit you because you're a girl." I scoffed rolling my eyes. "I'd like to see him try and hit me!"

Minho turned crossing his arms as he looked at me. "The point is, you did it and you have to be punished for it." I groaned throwing my head back. "Come on! You heard what he was saying! You would think that after a month that slinthead would get used to me being here and stop saying all that dumb klunk!" He tilted his head and raised his eyebrows. "You would think that after a month, you would get used to him saying something everyday, and stop responding everytime."

Finally Minho sighed placing his hands on his hips. "Look, these orders are coming straight from Alby. I can't do anything about it. Yeah I think you were right punching Gally. Dumb shank deserved it. Heck, you should have been promoted rather than punished. But I don't have a say in it." I sighed looking down. "Great... So what am I supposed to do if I'm not in the Maze all day?" He shrugged. "Hey that's not my problem." He replied before heading off again.

"It's stupid! I want to be out there, not stuck in here!" Newt stopped working in the garden to turn and look at me sitting on the fence. "Well, if you didn't bloody punch that shank you would be." I rolled my eyes. "What the real problem is, is the fact that Gally couldn't handle getting punched by a girl, so he had Alby get me suspended." He shook his head. "Well it's over now. Can't do anything about it."

I pointed at him. "Hey, you're second in command! You can do something about it. Alby'll listen to you." Newt placed his hands on his hips, giving me a long stare before he sighed. "Ok, I'll talk to Alby about it. But I can't promise he'll listen." I broke into a grin. "That's all I'm asking for!" Newt smiled at me briefly before he went back to working with the plants.

"So Niks, what are you going to do until you get runner status back?" He asked glancing at me. "That, is a question I haven't even bothered trying to answer. I kind of expected to be a runner again tomorrow..." I sighed stretching. "Well we could always use your help here..." He said using his hoe to gesture at the garden. I smiled tilting my head. "Aw, but it's so fun watching you do it." Zart looked up from his work to laugh a little and I grinned a little bigger. "Ha ha." Newt replied sarcastically, rolling his eyes. "Sadly, you can't watch me all day."

I laughed, but before I could respond, an alarm sounded. "Well Niks, looks like you're no longer the greenie anymore." I scoffed vaulting the fence. "Oh please, I knew as much about this Glade as anybody. I was hardly the 'greenie'" I made air quotes with my fingers and Newt smiled following me towards the box like all the other Gladers. It was time to greet the new greenie.

A/N: Sorry for the short chapter, but I needed a transition. If you didn't catch it, it's a been a month since chapter 10. So Nicole has obviously gotten closer with the boys(except Gally, clearly). Chapter 12 Chuck finally comes in, and in probably chapter 14 or 15 Thomas finally comes in. But anyway thanks so much for reading!
