Weakness. Like all of my strength has been sapped. That's how I felt, as I struggled to open my eyes. I was immediately blinded by blaring light above me, and the bright white walls. I groaned slowly and began to attempt to sit up, but didn't get very far as I realized I was strapped down securely to the bed.

"How do you feel?" I quickly turned my head to see the same woman, dressed in all white as well. "How do you think I feel?" I replied, narrowing my eyes at her, pure hatred coursing through my veins. A smile ghosted across her face as she continued to watch me. "Release her restrictions." She said after a moment, and with a soft clicking sound, I was free.

Slowly I sat up, feeling dizzy, and I was sure that my legs were too weak to stand. "So you sting me, make me go through the worst pain of my life and now what? What for?" She folded her hands tilting her head slightly. "You knew that answer before you were even given the serum. Your brain patterns are much different, giving you the serum provided us with more data."

I scoffed pushing myself to the edge of the bed. "Well, I hope you received all that you needed from my brain." I rolled my eyes, sarcasm thick in my words. "More than we could have hoped for. It's almost a shame to send you back in." My head shot up at her statement. "After all this, you're just sending me back into the Maze?"

Her humorless laugh resounded through the small room and I clenched my jaw watching her. "In a way, yes. But this will be a new variable for you, and your new friends." My eyebrows raised and I could feel my pulse begin to quicken. Why what she said put me on edge, I had no idea. But whatever this new variable was, I already hated it.

I sat upright in bed, softly sighing as I came to the realization of where I was. The first light of morning was beginning to seep through my window. It felt good to feel safe, even for a moment.

I rubbed my eyes, the events of last night beginning to haunt my thoughts once again. Suddenly, I became aware of the hushed voices talking outside my door. I jumped out of bed, ignoring the dizziness that came with it to open the door.

Minho, Alby, and Newt all looked at me surprised. "You're up already?" Minho said and I rolled my eyes. "Well I wouldn't be if ya'll weren't so shucking loud." I replied. Minho snorted, but I didn't give him a chance to say anything before I spoke again.

"So, what are you all doing up so early?" I asked looking at the three in turn. "These two are going to find that bloody dead griever." Newt said pointing to Alby and Minho. My eyebrows rose at this statement. "Really? Who knows if it will still even be there."

Minho shrugged, beginning to adjust the straps of his new pack. "Hey, it's worth a try. Bringing it back, we could even find a way out of this shuck place." I ran my tongue over the back of my teeth, nodding. He had a point, studying a griever, could have endless information.

"Let me come with you." I said firmly and the three older boys looked at me with raised eyebrows. I crossed my arms waiting for a response.

"No way." I was surprised by the calm but adamant voice of Newt. I wasn't expecting him to be the one to shoot me down. "What?" I looked at him through narrowed eyes. "You're not starting with this klunk again. I can handle myself out there. And besides if you're so worried about me, I'll be with those two!"

He shook his head, his firm expression unwavering. "That's not why you're not going out there. With everything that's happened as of late, you're head won't be in it. What's the point of you going out there if you're not focused. You'll be no help to anyone."

I rolled my eyes, annoyance and anger beginning to build up inside of me. "You don't know that! Maybe the one thing I need is to stay focused on something else, like going back in the maze!"
